Welcome to the live results blog for AEW Collision September 9, 2023 episode which was live from Cleveland, OH, for the build-up for Grand Slam 2023 event.

6 matches were announced in advance with 2 title matches, and 2 matches for World Title Eliminator matches. Jon Moxley defended AEW International title against Action Andretti. Kris Statlander defended TBS Women’s title in an open challenge.

Eliminator tournament semifinal matches saw Roderick Strong facing Darby Allin, and Samoa Joe took on Penta El Zero Meido. Bullet Club Gold were in action in an 8-man match against Gravity, Aero Star and Dios Del Inframundo. Rey Fenix faced Angelico in a singles match.

We also heard from Bryan Danielson, AEW Women’s Champion Saraya, Ruby Soho, The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn. Tune in below as we post results from AEW Collision September 9, 2023, with live updates, winners, highlights and complete action.

LIVE UPDATES

Jon Moxley(c) vs Action Andretti – AEW International Championship

Moxley gets a hammerlock to start, turns into a chinlock before putting Andretti to the corner to hit a big chop. Andretti moves to the floor to regroup. More chops from Moxley after he comes back in. Andretti also hits chops but Moxley kicks him out of the ring. Mox throws him back in. Andretti hits him with a handspring kick on the apron to knock him off, and follows with a suicide dive. Andretti ducks a move from the top and Mox lands awkwardly on his leg. Andretti hits a hurricanrana and a dorpkick before a springboard moonsault to get a two-count. Andretti hits a dropkick through the ropes after Mox rolls to the floor. Andretti hits a moonsault on the floor before countering to send him into the ring. We cut to a break.

Andretti still in control as we return. He hits a clothesline to send Mox to the floor. Mox returns to the ring after dodging Andretti’s suicide dive. Mox himself hits a suicide dive to take over control. He hits punches in the corner before biting off Andretti’s head. Andretti hits back with an enzuigiri. Moxley counters a springboard dive with a DDT for a two-count. Andretti lands on his feet on a suplex. Andretti fights out of a choke and lands a couple of dropkicks. Mox avoids a running shooting star press but Andretti hits a low clothesline to get a two-count.

Andretti lands on his feet once again as Mox hits a suplex from the top rope. Andretti hits a shotgun dropkick. Mox hits the same. Andretti avoids a spear in the corner and Moxley crashes into the post. Andretti hits a spinning crossbody from the top to get a two-count. Andretti stomps on Mox’s face like BCC does. Mox turns it into a bulldog choke by pulling Andretti down. Andretti taps out.

Winner – Jon Moxley

We hear from Roderick Strong’s pre-recorded promo talking about Adam Cole and their friendship saying that Cole was not there when he needed him, and even winning the AEW World Championship would not give him back his peace.

Kris Statlander(c) vs Robyn Renegade – AEW TBS Women’s Championship

Statlander gets an inset promo where she explains that she is putting out open challenge just like his friend Orange Cassidy when he was the International Champion. Kris starts with quick shots. A bit of back and forth before Kris hits a dropkick. Kris remains in control and hits a deadlift German suplex. Charlotte Renegade runs a distraction from the floor to allow Robyn to hit a big boot. She hits a cutter like move after this. Charlotte chokes Kris from the floor while the referee is distracted. Kris comes back with a clothesline. She hits running elbows and clotheslines in the corner before Charlotte breaks the pin. Kris goes after her and this allows Robyn to roll her up for a two-count. Robyn slams Kris face first into the mat. She misses a big boot in the corner and Kris slams her to the mat. Kris decks Charlotte off the apron before rolling up Robyn to get the pinfall.

Winner – Kris Statlander

The Renegades attack Kris after the match. Jade Cargill’s music hits and she comes out to attack The Renegades. She sends them packing before shaking hands with Kris. Jade then hits her with the Jaded. Smart Mark Sterling gets into the ring to stand with Jade before they go back.


Saraya and Ruby Soho are backstage for an interview. Ruby gets irate as she says her friend Toni Storm cost her the TBS title. Saraya says Toni has gone nuts and they need to knock some sense into her. Saraya then talks about Grand Slam and says she will walk in and out as TBS Women’s Champion from the event.


Eddie Kingston and ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli sit down with Tony Schiavone. Eddie goes off on Claudio for leaving independent without doing business with him. They bicker before Eddie offers his NJPW Strong title on the line to get a shot at ROH World title. Claudio says his condition for this match is that Eddie should shake his hand after the match if he wins. They agree to the match.

Bullet Club Gold(Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) vs Aerostar, Gravity & Dios Del Inframundo

Austin starts against Gravity. Gravity lands on his feet in an armdrag before Austin trips him and hits a bulldog. Colten tags in and hits a corner splash on Aerostar after the tag. Juice hits signature jabs before a big left. Andrade is watching the match from backstage. Aerostar hits a dropkick to tag in Gravity and Inframundo comes in for some double team. Austin runs a distraction to allow Colten to hit a double clothesline from behind. Bullet Club in control as we cut to a break.

Gravity hits punches to midsection before Juice hits a tilt-a-whirl slam. Juice puts on a chinlock. Gravity gets back up and hits back elbows before a cutter. Tags to the Gunns and Gravity fights them off to tag in Aerostar who hits dropkicks before a cutter on Austin to get a two-count. Inframundo comes in for quick moves before The Gunns double team to drop him. Gravity tags in and The Gunns hit him with 3:10 to Yuma. Juice hits a big punch and Pulp Fiction to get the pinfall.

Winner – Bullet Club Gold

CJ Perry gets a pre-recorded promo who tells us that Miro left saying he won’t comes back until he gets some gold back. She just wanted to surprise Miro at All Out. She talks about being alone for 2 years waiting for him.

Rey Fenix vs Angelico

Fenix sends Angelico to the floor with a dropkick. He hits a tope suicida. Serpentico intervenes but Fenix kicks him away. Fenix hits a moonsault on Angelico on the floor. Back in the ring, Fenix hits big chops. Angelico brings him down from ropes before some wrenching the hands and dropping his gut onto his knees. Angelico hits a standing moonsault before starting to work on the ground. Rey avoids Angelico in ther before hitting springboard armdrag and a stomp. Fenix hits splash from the top to get a two-count. Fenix hits more kicks to the back of his head. Angelico hits back elbows before getting him in a crucifix with a clever manuever. Angelico hits a big punch to drop Fenix but Fenix jumps back up to hit a superkick. Serpentico gets to the apron and eats a rope walk kick. Fenix hits a senton from the top to get a near fall. Rey hits Block Fire Driver to get the pinfall.

FTR are interviewed backstage and talk about their big title defenses recently and they need new challengers. They announce FTR Tag Team title challenge. They will put their titles on the line against any team starting from Wednesday.

Roderick Strong vs Darby Allin – Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament

Roderick Strong makes his entrance with The Kingdom pumping him up. Darby is skating in his entrance when Luchasaurus attacks him. Christian Cage comes in and asks if Darby is in this World title eliminator tournament since he realized that he will never win his title. Luchasaurus slams him into the mat before going away. Darby is down and out, but he drags himself to the stage. Nick Wayne is out with him and pumps up Darby. Darby gets into the ring.

Strong stomps on him right away near the ropes before hitting a backbreaker. Darby hits some quick shots before a quick roll up to get a two-count. He uses a low bridge to send Strong to the floor and hits a suicide dive to take us to a break.

Strong throws Darby into the barricade coming out of the break. Darby chokes him on the ropes as they get back to the ring. Darby gets him in a crucifix to get a two-count. Darby hits a sunset Code Red to get another two-count. Strong puts him in a STF next. Strong puts him on the top rope. Darby claws his back and pushes him back down. Strong quickly gets up and trips him on the rope. Darby hits back elbows before Strong unloads with quick blows to the back. Strong hits an Urinage into a backbreaker to drop Darby on the top turnbuckle. Wayne and the referee check on Darby as he falls to the floor. We cut to another break.

Darby starts to fight back after getting to the ropes in a sharpshooter. Darby goes for a coffin splash but Strong gets his knees up to counter. Strong goes for Death Valley driver on the apron but Darby counters it into a stunner on the apron. Darby hits a Coffin drop on the floor. AR Fox comes out to scare off The Kingdom with Nick Wayne. Fox and Wayne start to argue. Darby gets STF back to the ring but Strong counters with a sick kick. The Kingdom get to the apron. Nick and Fox try to fight them off but Fox ends up hitting Nick with a moonsault. Darby gets distracted with this and Strong hits End of Heartache to get the pinfall.

Winner – Roderick Strong

Nick and Fox continue to argue afterward as they get into the ring to check on Darby.


We get another promo from Powerhouse Hobbs regarding Book of Hobbs being his guiding light.


Keith Lee is backstage for an interview and warns other to run from him.


We hear from the Righteous who says they are not afraid of using their power to take over control. They tell anyone who wants it to get in front of them or stay away from their path.

Bryan Danielson Speaks!

Tony Schiavone brings out Bryan Danielson and asks him what’s next for him. Bryan says he told his daughter that once she turns 7, he will start winding down his career. His daughter is 6 now, and so, time is running out. But that said, he will not go gently into that grave. He gets enraged and says if this is his last and final year, it will be the most epic year of his career. He wants to call his shot and he wants to fight the one who calls himself the best technical wrestler in the word and he challenges Zack Sabre Jr.

Ricky Starks comes out with Big Bill. He says he had to sit in the catering at Dynamite since Danielson was not there. He talks about the focus always being on the other person and he was always being fed with breadcrumbs when he wanted a full course meal, and he is still hungry. Bryan tells Ricky that he was not done before he interrupted. Bryan teases getting Ricky into Blackpool Combat Club but Big Bill decks him before he can say much. Ricky pulls him apart and starts beating up Bryan himself. Jon Moxley runs out and jumps on Bill. Bill throws him away and hits a big boot to drop him. Starks and Bill beat them up for a while before going back.

After the break, Tony Schiavone interviews Big Bill backstage about newly announced match vs Jon Moxley on Dynamite. Bill says Moxley is the baddest dude on the planet but he just dropped him easily. Rey Fenix comes in with Penta and Alex Abrahantes to tell Bill that Moxley is his target next and he will become the next International Champion.

Samoa Joe vs Penta El Zero Meido – Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament

They shove each other before Penta gets into Joe’s face with Zero Meido. Joe hits him with a headbutt. Penta hits a superkick. Joe hits a tackle to drop him again. Joe throws Penta into the corner and hits jabs. Penta hits back and force Joe to the floor. Joe walks away from the basement slide but Penta hits him with a slingblade on the floor. They trade chops before Joe kicks at his knee. Joe throws Penta into the barricade.

Penta hits overhead chops before throwing Joe into the barricade himself. Penta brings out a table and sets it up in the corner. Joe rakes his eyes before taking him back to the ring to hit his signature jabs. Joe slams Penta’s face into the steel steps. Joe tries to remove the mask. We cut to a break.

Joe is still in control as we return. He hits a back elbow in the corner and an enzuigiri. Joe sets up the Muscle Buster but Penta fights him off and hits a crossbody from the top. Penta hits a backstabber to get a two-count. Joe hits a kick to midsection. Penta hits a thrust kick before Joe hits a snap powerslam to get a near fall. Penta hits kicks in the corner before a superkick against the turnbuckle. Penta hits a roundhouse kick to the face before a kick to the back to get another two-count.

Penta looks for a submission but Joe hits back to drop him, hit Senton Atomico and senton to get a two-count. Penta sends him to the floor to hit a suicide dive. Penta goes for the tope suicida but Joe walks away to send Penta crashing into the table he set up earlier. Back to the ring, Penta tries to counter an Urinage but Joe quickly puts him in Coquina clutch to get the submission.
