Welcome to the live results blog for AEW Collision episode September 16, 2023, which featured the buildup towards Grand Slam and WrestleDream 2023 PPV.

FTR were set for a tag team title defense against Iron Savages as part of their new initiative to face new teams. Kris Statlander faced another cornerstone of women’s division to defend TBS Women’s title as she took on Britt Baker.

Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli of BCC faced the manager-fighter duo of Ricky Starks & Big Bill. The Hardys are set to face The Righteous in another tag team match. Andrade El Idolo returned to action as he faced Scorpio Sky. Anthony Bowens took on Evil Uno as part of the Acclaimed vs Dark Order rivalry.

LIVE UPDATES

Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli vs Big Bill & Ricky Starks

Starks teases starting against Bryan but tags in Big Bill. Bryan hits calf kicks but it has no effect on Bill who throws Bryan to the corner to hit overhead chops. Bryan hits a dropkick to the knee and hits calf kicks on it. Bill throws him to his corner. Claudio tags in. Bill invites him for a show of strength. They lock arms where Bill pushes Claudio back for a while before Claudio gets back up. They trade punches. Claudio attempts the firemen’s carry but fails. Claudio hits European uppercuts.

Bryan comes in and Bill drops them with a double clothesline. Starks slams Bryan’s face into the turnbuckle before hitting punches from the second rope. Bryan hits back with sidekicks to body and chops to the chest. Bryan hits a hurricanrana from the top rope. Bryan hits jabs next. Starks hits a shoulder tackle next. Bill hits a corner splash. Bryan hits a big boot on Bryan. Starks hits him with a cheap show before we cut to a break.

Bryan makes a comeback with a dropkick after a running start. Claudio and Bill get the tags. Claudio hits uppercuts and clotheslines but fails to brign down Bill. Claudio takes him to the corner and hits 21 clotheslines. He hits a shoulder tackle to finally drop Bill. He hits a Death Valley driver. Claudio looks for a the swing but Bill comes back to hit a chokelsam. Ricky comes in and Claudio puts him in the swing. He transitions into a sharpshooter. Bill comes in and boots Claudio to break.

Bryan comes in to deal with Big Bill. Starks is dropped by Claudio in response. Bryan comes back in and Starks take over control. Starks sends Bryan to the ropes where Claudio takes a cheap shot. Ricky hits a spear but Claudio breaks the pinfall. Bryan fights back. He gets to the top but Bill trips him. Claudio tries to hit an uppercut. More quick back and forth between Starks and Bryan. Starks hits a low blow and Roshambo to get the pinfall.

Winner – Ricky Starks & Big Bill

Adam Page and The Young Bucks are backstage and they challenge Gates of Agony and Brian Cage for ROH 6-man tag team championship. The match gets confirmed for Rampage Grand lam.


Powerhouse Hobbs gets a video promo talking about the next chapter of Book of Hobbs which is titled Destruction, where he tells us how he plans to destroy his opponent limb by limb.

Miro cuts a promo in reply. He also asks God why did he sent his wife who does not believe in God.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)(c) vs Iron Savages (Bronson & Boulder) – AEW Tag Team Championship

Before the match, FTR hits Jamieson with shatter machine before Bear and Boulder took them down. Bronson misses a spear on Dax in the corner. Cash and Boulder tag in. Cash hits dropkick on Boulder. Dax tags in but Boulder drops him easily with a clothesline. Dax ducks down and hits punches. He hits a dropkick next. A crossbody is caught and Dax is hit with a body slam. FTR hit Shatter Machine on Bronson. Boulder is hit with a superplex and a top rope splash to get the pin.

Winner – FTR

After the match, the Workhorseman come out to challenge FTR next. They shake hands to confirm an upcoming match. Aussie Open are watching this.


Keith Lee is interviewed backstage but is interrupted by Shane Taylor who wants to introduce Lee Moriarty. Taylor tells him that Shane Taylor promotions do not run away.

Anthony Bowens vs Evil Uno

Silver attacks from behind when Bowens is talking to others. Silver is still in control as we return from the break. Bowens hits punches to come back. Some misdirection helps him hit more shots and dropkick. He hits Fameasser for a two-count. They start to trade shots. Bowens drops Silver with a clothesline. Silver avoids him in the corner and hits some quick shots before dropping Bowens. Bowens drops him to the mat and hits a penalty kick. Silver rolls to the floor and Bowens nails him with a running shot. Evil Uno throws Bowens into the ring post and throws him into the ring while Silver kept the referee distracted. Silver gets the pinfall.

Winner – John Silver

Eddie Kingston is backstage and cuts a promo about his relationship with Claudio Castagnoli. He says that Claudio left potholes in the independent business that many had to fix. He says he does not have friends because he pushes them away.

Aussie Open(Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) vs Enhancement Talents

Fletcher starts with quick moves before Davis comes in for double team. The other opponent comes in but gets overwhelmed easily. Aussie Open keep going and get an easy win.

Winner – Aussie Open

After the match, they cut a promo in the ring and challenge FTR for a match at WrestleDream whether they keep the titles until them or not.

Andrade El Idolo vs Scorpio Sky

Back and forth start. Andrade puts on a chinlock. Scorpio counters and hits a headscissors takedown. Andrade drops his leg on the ropes with a dragon screw. Andrade gets to the top rope. Scorpio pushes him off the top and to the floor. We cut to a break.

Scorpio hits a suicide dive as he is in control after the match. They trade kicks and both men are down. Andrade invites kicks to the face and hits Scorpio with dragon screw again. They crash through to the floor. Back to the ring, Andrade hits a back elbow. Scorpio gets him inside cradle to get a two-count. Andrade hits a low dropkick before putting on figure four. He transitions into figure eight to get the pinfall.

Winner – Andrade El Idolo

Jay White comes out to the stage after the match alongside rest of the Bullet Club Gold. White brings up Andrade watching BCG last week during their match, but he believes Andrade wants Switchblade spotlight. He challenges Andrade for a match next week.

The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) vs The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch)

Matt hits Side Effect as we return from the break. Jeff tags into the ring and hits quick moves on both opponents quickly to takeover complete control. Jeff goes for the Swanton, but Dutch pushes him off. Vincent finishes off Jeff for the win.

Winners – The Righteous

Kris Statlander(c) vs Britt Baker – AEW TBS Women’s Championship.

Statlander hits a shoulder tackle as Baker comes off the ropes. She hits a body slam next. Baker rolls out of the ring. They trade shots when she moves back in. Statlander lands awkwardly on her knees when she tries to leap over Baker. Baker hits a neckbreaker. Statlander hits a bodyslam to get a two-count heading into the break.

Baker meets Statlander on the top rope as we return. Statlander fires shots to send her back down. Statlander misses a moonsault. Baker slams Statlander’s legs into the ring post. She hits two slingblades in the ring. Statlander hits a blue thunderbomb to get a two-count. She hits a Michinoku Driver next to get another two-count. Baker trips her and hits the curbstomp. Baker brings out her glove for jockjaw but Statlander rolls her up for a two-count. They trade shots for a while. Baker hits more punches. Statlander and hits a thrust kick. Baker hits a couple of superkicks, and both women are down. Statlander throws her to the corner and hits a big boot. She misses a running knee. Baker goes for Panama Sunrse but Statlander blocks. Baker hits Angel Wings and Curbstomp but Statlander kicks out of the pin. Statlander goes to pick her up. Baker gets the lockjaw on but Statlander gets her shoulders down to get the pinfall.

Winner – Kris Statlander
