UFC 300: Zhang Weili vs Xiaonon Yan Strawweight Title Announced
First title fight is announced for UFC 300 which will also be the first Chinese vs Chinese fighter bout in UFC.
Zhang Weili is set to defend her UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship against Xiaonon Yan at UFC 300. The announcement came from UFC President Dana White via social media post.
Both women have an identical record in UFC so far with 8 wins and 2 losses. However, Weili is a two-time strawweight champion, and this will be Yan’s first fight for the title. Yan is ranked at #2 in UFC Women’s Strawweight Rankings.
Weili is currently on a 3-fight winning streak since losing twice to Rose Namajunas at UFC 261 and UFC 268 in 2021. She has defeated Joanna Jędrzejczyk in their rematch before beating Carla Esparza to win the title at UFC UFC 281. She defended the title successfully against Amanda Lemos at UFC 291 PPV.
Xiaonon Yan has also bounced back from back-to-back defeats with wins over Mackenzie Dern and Jéssica Andrade in her last two fights.
