UFC 291 Commentary Team Set, Chael Sonnen Returns as Analyst

Chael Sonnen is set to return as analyst at UFC 291 PPV as the commentary team and broadcast plans are revealed for the show.

MMA Junkie revealed the broadcast details for UFC 291 which will have the regular commentary team back after missing out UFC London. Jon Anik will serve as the lead commentator while Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier will return as the color commentators.

Chael Sonnen will be back on the analyst desk along with Din Thomas and UFC Lightweight Din Thomas. Sonnen will be appearing on UFC broadcast for the first time since UFC 272. He got accused of an alleged attack in Las Vegas a few days after that event. The legal proceedings of the event ended earlier this month after a plea deal.

Bruce Buffer will continue as the Octagon Announcer while Megan Olivi will return as the roving reporter after missing out UFC London. The complete broadcast team is as below:

  • Octagon Announcer – Bruce Buffer
  • Roving Reporter – Megan Olivi
  • Desk Analyst – Chael Sonnes, Din Thomas, Anthony Smith
  • Commentators – Jon Anik(Lead), Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier

UFC 291 is set to take place on July 29, 2023, in Salt Lake City. Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje are see to clash in the main event. The main card will start at 10 PM ET while the prelims coverage will start at 6 PM ET.
