UFC Vegas 74 event on June 3, 2023, now has a new main event in Kai Kara-France vs Amir Albazi.

A middleweight bout between Brendan Allen vs Jack Hermannson was earlier supposed to be the headline of UFC Fight Night on June 3. However, Hermannson pulled out last week due to an undislosed injury.

Brendan Allen is now moved on to face Bruno Silva at UFC Jacksonville on June 24 now, leaving the main event spot on UFC Vegas 74 free. Kai Kara-France revealed on a podcast that his bout against Amir Albazi is the new 5-round headliner.

This is the first time since UFC 256 that a flyweight bout would headline an UFC event. UFC 256 featured Deveison Figueireido vs Brandon Moreno fight for UFC Flyweight Championship as the main event, which ended in a majority draw.

Kai Kara-France was last in action in July 2022, where he lost the interim flyweight title bout to Brandon Moreno. Prior to that, he was on a 3-fights winning streak beating Rogério Bontorin, Cody Garbrandt and Askar Askarov. He was supposed to face Alex Perez at UFC 284 in Perth, but pulled out due to an injury.

Amir Albazi remains unbeaten in UFC with 4 wins after his debut in 2020. He has wins over Malcolm Gordon, Zhalgas Zhumagulov(UFC 257), Francisco Figueiredo(UFC 278) and Alessandro Costa. He is currently ranked at #7 in UFC Flyweight Rankings.
