Edson Barboza vs Billy Quarantillo Set for April 15 UFC Event
Edson Barboza is set to face Billy Quarantillo at UFC Fight Night event on April 15, 2023, in a featherweight bout.
Billy Quarantillo posted the news on his only fans account. The event on April 15 has not been officially announced by UFC yet and does not have a disclosed location. However, at least 5 fights have been reported for the event so far.
A 27-fights UFC veteran, Edson Barboza enters the bout after two back-to-back losses. He lost to Giga Chikadze via TKO in August 2021 before losing to Bryce Mitchell at UFC 272.
Barboza was earlier scheduled to face Ilja Topuria in October last year, but he had to pull out due to a knee injury. His overall UFC record stands at 16-11. Barboza holds the record of most Fight of The Night bonuses with 8 awards(tied with Nate Diaz, Frankie Edgar & Dustin Poirier).
This will also be the fourth fight under Barboza contract with UFC in 2021. He will have 2 more fights left with UFC after this bout. Check here for UFC contract status for other fighters.
Billy Quarantillo enters the bout with a 4-2 record in UFC after he was signed through Dana White Contender Series in 2019. He was in action against Alexander Hernandez most recently at UFC 282. That was his only fight in 2022 after he pulled out of a previous encounter with Bill Algeo due to an injury.
Quarantillo’s previous wins include his UFC debut win over Spike Carlyle, Kyle Nelson and Gabriel Benítez. He has dropped the fights against Gavin Tucker and Shane Burgos via unanimous decisions.
Bruna Brasil vs Denise Gomez and Martin Buday vs Jake Collier were the first two bouts to be reported for April 15, 2023’s UFC Fight Night. Dustin Jacoby vs Azamat Murzakanov and T.J. Brown vs Bill Algeo bouts were also reported for the event on Wednesday.
