Shakur Stevenson will make his lightweight debut as he faces Shuichiro Yoshino in his hometown on April 8, 2023.

Former World Champion at Featherweight and Super Featherweight at just the age of 25, Stevenson will once again be headlining the event at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, in WBC Lightweight Title Eliminator. Stevenson has moved up to lightweight after he failed to make weight for his unified Super Featherweight title against Robson Conceição in September.

Stevenson was able to win that match to keep his unbeaten record intact with a unanimous decision. Stevenson has 19 wins with 9 knockouts. He will be facing another undefeated fighter in Shuichiro Yoshino. However, Yoshino will be fighting out of Japan for the first time. He has two wins in 2022 over Masayuki Ito and Masayoshi Nakatani.
