Gervonta Davis is a multiple-division world champion, having held the titles in featherweight, super featherweight, and super lightweight divisions, and currently holds WBA(Regular) Lightweight title. However, the bout between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis is agreed at 136 lbs catchweight and without any title on the line.
A disagreement over the rematch clause stalled the bout from getting finalized. Davis’ team wanted a rematch in case Garcia wins this bout, but they are not willing to give Garcia a rematch in case of a Davis win. Also, Garcia’s team wants Dazn to get the PPV rights in case of a rematch.
As the stalemate over Davis vs Garcia continues, Garcia’s team has started talking with Regis Prograis about a title bout for Garcia. However, the deal for Davis was completed as the event was changed into a joint PPV with both Showtime and Dazn getting involved.
