WWE Trademarks New ‘WWE Speed’ Match Concept

WWE Speed

WWE has submitted a trademark application for the name of a new match format or even a new show

Several videos emerged from the venue of December 15 episode of SmackDown where WWE presented two matches with “WWE Speed” logos on screen. During these matches, each had a five-minute timer displayed with a giant countdown on the video screen.

Within this format, participants competed against the clock, where winners earned a point and losers gained no points. If the match ended in a draw, neither competitor received any points.

The matches involved a mix of WWE main roster and NXT talent, offering an unexpected twist for the viewers. NXT’s Nathan Frazer emerged victorious over RAW’s Bronson Reed in one match, while Cedric Alexander secured a win against NXT’s Axiom in another match.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick provided commentary for these matches, which were filmed as if they were intended for broadcast. However, the specific plans for airing or utilizing these matches remain unclear at the moment.

The trademark registration for WWE SPEED pertains to entertainment services, encompassing a professional wrestling show, event production, and broadcast distribution via television and diverse platforms. It involves delivering wrestling news, sports, and entertainment information through various transmission media forms, including television and online platforms.

Additionally, it includes the operation of a website focusing on sports entertainment information. This trademark covers a broad spectrum of professional wrestling-related services, spanning broadcast media, event production, and online information dissemination within the entertainment industry.
