In an update on her status, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that there were initial discussions about Mercedes Martinez potentially working with AEW after her appearance at AEW All-In. However, sources mentioned in early December that these plans were no longer in progress.
Furthermore, it was indicated that there is a significant disparity in terms between Martinez and AEW, suggesting a considerable difference in agreement between the two parties.
There hasn’t been any confirmation regarding whether she was originally scheduled to make her debut. Speculation surrounding Moné’s potential arrival at AEW gained traction around AEW Grand Slam. However, as mentioned by Sapp, AEW chose not to proceed with her appearance while she was still recovering from her injury.
According to NJPW’s Rocky Romero, there was optimism about Mercedes Martinez resuming discussions with NJPW/STARDOM as NJPW also expressed interest in having her return. Sean Ross Sapp clarified that Martinez isn’t currently under contract with NJPW, and there’s no information available regarding any discussions between her and WWE.
Sean Ross Sapp mentioned that WWE intends to reinitiate discussions with various free agents once the new year commences. However, it remains uncertain whether Mercedes Moné is included in these plans. Sapp also refuted rumors suggesting that WWE’s creative team was instructed to devise ideas for Mercedes Moné’s return.
