Cody Rhodes vs AJ Styles “I Quit” Match Set for WWE Clash at the Castle

Cody vs AJ Styles Clash at the Castle I Quit match

“I Quit” match is set to return in WWE.

Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against AJ Styles at WWE Clash at the Castle 2024 event in an “I Quit” match.

After AJ caught him with a surprise attack last week in disguise of a retirement segment, Cody was hell bent on beating him up as soon as AJ would arrive on SmackDown this week. However, Manager Nick Aldis deployed security to keep them separate upon AJ’s arrival to the arena.

Cody then went to the ring and called out AJ to come to the ring himself. AJ did not come to the ring but demanded a rematch for the WWE title. Cody ultimately agreed to it but added that he would force AJ to say “I Quit”, something that AJ should have said last week itself. Nick Aldis made the match official after this.

Cody previously defeated AJ at Backlash France in a 5-star classic. AJ asked Aldis for a rematch since he went very close to beating Cody. Aldis replied that AJ needed to earn a rematch. AJ said he did not have much time left to get another shot and did the whole fake retirement skit to catch Cody off guard to attack him.

I Quit matches have a long history in WWE. The match can only end with one of the competitors in the match saying “I Quit”. The latest “I Quit” match in WWE took place at Extreme Rules 2022 where Finn Balor defeated Edge.
