WWE SummerSlam 2021 Live Results

Welcome to the live blog for WWE SummerSlam 2021 PPV which airs on 21 August 2021 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.

In a match that is dubbed as the “Greatest of All Time” vs “Greatest of His Time,” Roman Reigns will defend WWE Universal Championship against John Cena in the main event of the show. Goldberg and Lashley will face off in a clash of behemoths. The overall match card is stacked with Sheamus vs Damian Preist(US Title), The Usos vs The Mysterios(SmackDown Tag Team Title), and RK-Bro vs AJ Styles & Omos(RAW Tag Title) matches.

On the women’s side, Bianca Belair vs Sasha Banks is under doubt but RAW Women’s title triple threat match is on. But the juiciest matches would be that of Edge vs Seth Rollins. Drew McIntyre vs Jinder Mahal and Alexa Bliss vs Eva Marie are the only other non-title matches on the card.

  • Big E defeated Baron Corbin in a singles match via pinfall on the pre-show.
  • RK-Bro(Randy Orton & Riddle) defeated AJ Styles & Omos(c) via pinfall to win WWE RAW Tag Team Championship.
  • Alexa Bliss defeated Eva Marie in a singles match via pinfall.

WWE SummerSlam 2021 Live Updates

The kick-off show is live with Kayla Braxton, Booker-T, Jerry Lawler, Kevin Patrick and Peter Rosenberg. The panel starts to discuss the match card going one match at a time. (You can check the complete pre-show in the above video.)

The Miz and John Morrison roll into the building in a truck. It has a branding for Pure Life. Miz and Morrison says WWE Universe is in for the biggest party.

Big E vs Baron Corbin(Pre-Show Match)

We have a special ring announcer in Raine Cruz, who won WWE’s Tiktok contest to get this opportunity. Big E and Corbin come out for the match and Corbin does not want to let go of the MITB briefcase that he has stolen from Big E. The bell rings and here we go.

Big E attacks in the corner to start. Corbin explodes out of the corner. Big E hits a big Belly-to-Belly suplex to come back. On the apron, Big E unloads before he misses a splash. Big E beats the 10-count. Corbin slams him into three different ring posts in the corner. Corbin puts on a shoulder stretch. Big E tries to fight back as the crowd gets behind him. But Corbin hits a side slam to keep control.

Big E counters chokeslam into the stretch muffler submission. Corbin struggles but comes out of it and catches Big E with deep-six. Corbin gets a near fall before he turns his attention to the MITB case. Big E drops him on the announce table and then sends him into the barricade as he tries to run away with MITB case. Big E hits a big spear on the floor and takes Corbin back to the ring to hit Big Ending to get the pin.

Winner – Big E

We see Logan Paul in the front row as Big E gets the MIB briefcase.

The main show starts with a video package for the event. “Bro” is the first music to hit tonight as Riddle comes out. Randy Orton follows shortly. AJ & Omos come out.

AJ Styles & Omos(c) vs RK-Bro(Randy Orton & Riddle) – WWE RAW Tag Team Championship

AJ and Orton start the match. Orton hits a suplex and stomps on AJ’s hand. Riddle hits a senton and AJ is frustrated. He rolls out of the ring, throws a tantrum and comes back in to tag Omos. Omos comes with some big blows on Riddle. He tosses Riddle from a body slam. Riddle puts on a sleeper but Omos tosses him again and charges at him in the corner.

AJ tags in and hits a tornado DDT from the top of Omos. AJ with a backbreaker before he puts on a headlock. Riddle gets back on this feet. AJ slams him into the corner but Riddle catches Omos with a headbutt. Riddle manages to tag Orton in. Orton with a back body drop, a kick and a body slam on AJ. He drops Omos from the apron.

Orton hits a draping DDT on AJ and gets ready for the RKO, but Omos pulls AJ out to the floor. Riddle tries to attack him on the floor but Omos hits him with the chokeslam on the apron. Riddle sends him into the ring post. AJ hits him with an inverted DDT on the floor. AJ misses the Phenomenal forearm and Orton hits the RKO to get the pin.

Winners – RK-Bro(new RAW Tag Team Champions)

Eva Marie(w/ Doudrop) vs Alexa Bliss(w/ Lilly)

We get the recap from RAW this Monday where Eva Marie slapped Doudrop after she failed to get Lilly from Alexa Bliss. Eva Marie makes her entrance with Doudrop.

Eva Marie misses a clothesline and go to the floor. Alexa decks her in the face and Eva goes down. Eva attacks back as Alex goes to pick her up. Eva picks Lilly the Doll from the corner and slaps it a few times. Eva slams Alexa with the doll. Alexa screams and attacks Eva. Bliss with clotheslines and ground and pound. She hits a standing senton for a two-count. She puts Lilly back in the corner.

Eva asks for help from Doudrop but she sarcastically says she believes in her. Eva charges but Alexa drop toe holds her into the turnbuckle. Alexa misses the twisted Bliss. Eva gets a two-count. Bliss hits a DDT and gets the pin.

Winner – Alexa Bliss

After the match, Alexa walks back with Lilly. Doudrop is standing over Eva on the floor. Doudrop takes the mic and announces Eva Marie as the loser. Eva is shocked as Doudrop walks back.

Mario Lopez is here and he interviews RK-Bro. Orton says it will be smooth sailing for him and Riddle from now on. After Orton leaves, Orton tells Lopez that he has some surprise in store for Orton on Monday on RAW.

Sheamus(c) vs Damian Preist – WWE United States Championship

They lock up and trade locks to start. Sheamus hits a shoulder tackle. Priest comes back with a back elbow. Another big elbow in the corner before Priest throws him away with a suplex. Priest hits a springboard dive on the floor. Sheamus catches him with a punch as he was coming back. Sheamus catches Priest on the floor and is driven into the ring post.

Sheamus is toying with Priest now as he hits a back suplex. Sheamus hits a backbreaker after avoiding a clothesline. Sheamus counters another move to hit a powerbomb. Signature blows to the chest on the apron. Priest comes back with a Tornado DDT. Priest with a flurry of strikes, a clothesline and a dropkick. Priest hits a spinning heel kick from the top turnbuckle to get a near fall.

Sheamus counters reckoning with a backdrop. Sheamus goes to the top but Priest grabs him. Sheamus drops him on the ropes. He hits a missile dropkick and Alabama slam for a near fall. Priest takes a big shot at Sheamus, who replies with a headbutt. Sheamus runs into a superkick and Priest follows it with sitout chokeslam. Sheamus cuts Priest’s springboard kick with Brogue kick. Priest kicks out of the pin.

Priest counters with a cradle for a two-count. Sheamus puts on a knee lock. Priest hulks up and rips off Sheamus’s mask. Sheamus tries to protect his face as Priest unloads. Priest hits reckoning and gets the pin.

The Usos(Jey & Jimmy) vs The Mysterios(Rey & Dominik) – WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Rey starts hot before Dominik joins in with a dive of his own. Dominik hits the Three Amigos on Jimmy. Jey gets the tag in between and drops Dominik as he went to the top. Dominik hits the barricade hard. The Usos work on Dominik in their corner. He tries to tag out but Jey runs him over with a lariat.

Rey finally gets the hot tag and lights up Jey. A whip is reversed and Rye hits springboard moonsault. Rey reverses the counter into a DDT for a two-count. The match breaks down, Rey goes for a springboard, Jey cuts him off with a superkick and hits a splash. Rey kicks out.

Dominik fights Jey on the apron. Jimmy misses a splash on Rey. Rey drops him on the ropes and hits 619. Rey hits the follow-up splash. Jey and Jimmy hits Rey with the superkick simultaneously. Jey hits the Usos Splash to get the pin on Rey.

Winner – The Usos(retains SmackDown Tag Team Championship)

Damian Preist is with Tiffany Haddish and he says he is ready to party(in the post-show party).

Rick Boogs is out in the ring. He introduces our new Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura dances his way out as Boogs plays his theme on the guitar. Nakamura and Boogs are on the announce table now as they join Pat McAfee who was also grooving on the theme.

Bianca Belair(c) vs Sasha Banks Becky Lynch – WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

Bianca Belair makes her entrance. Greg Hamilton announces that Sasha Banks is unable to compete tonight and she is replaced by Carmella. the crowd is not pleased at all as Carmella gets into the ring. “We want Sasha” chants, Bianca takes the mic and says Sasha and she will get to it sooner.

Just as the match was about to start, Becky Lynch makes her return to WWE after 15 months. The crowd is roaring. Becky gets into the ring and takes in the crowd response. She then decks Carmella and throws her out of the ring. Becky goes to the floor and sends Carmella into the steel steps. Becky takes the mic and asks the crowd if The Man and EST should blast the roof of this stadium.

Bianca takes her time to soak in all the developments before she agrees to it. It is going to be Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s title.

The bell rings and Becky offers a handshake to Bianca, only to hit her with a big punch. Becky hits the Manhandle Slam(Urinagi) and gets the pin.

Winner – Becky Lynch

After the match, The crowd gives some mixed reaction to Becky winning it in such a manner. Becky gets the title belt and raises it. Bianca rolls to the floor and is coming to terms to what just happened. Becky continues with her celebration.

Jinder Mahal vs Drew McIntyre

McIntyre starts with a tackle. Mahal fires back but Drew gets better of him. Drew goes for the Claymore but Jinder gets out of the ring. Jinder begs him off as they return to the ring. Drew was aware of the tactic and goes for the DDT. Jinder hits a big kick and a back-splash to get a two-count.

Jinder works on Drew near the ropes. He whips Drew into the corner hard. He works on Drew’s back. Drew fights back with belly-to-belly suplexes. Drew hits the futureshock DDT and follows with the Claymore kick for the win.

Winner – Drew McIntyre

After the match, Veer and Shanky comes to check on Jinder. Drew gets his sword and scares them off. Drew celebrates in the corner with the sword.

Nikki ASH(c) vs Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair – WWE RAW Women’s Championship

Flair shoves ASH out and Rhea shoves her out. Rhea ducks a lariat and dropkicks her out. Nikki with a low bridge, monkey flip on Charlotte, Rhea gets in, whip across, Flair runs over both opponents. Kip-up from the Queen, Nikki hammers her with punches, Charlotte with a scoop and a slam to put ASH into Rhea! Riptide reversed into a crossbody.

Nikki with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors on Flair, Charlotte hits the boot on Ripley… STILL NO! Rhea and Charlotte trading strikes, Ripley with short-arm lariats, ripcord blocked, headbutt into a snapmare and then a dropkick!

Rhea hits a snapmare, sidekick and a Northern Light suplex. Flair fights back with a back elbow and whips her to the apron. Flair boots Rhea on the apron. Nikki comes in and hits tornado DDT. She keeps Rhea out but Flair catches her. Rhea hits German suplex on both women. Rhea hits missile dropkick to Flair to get a two-count.

Flair drives Rhea into the apron before they trade strikes on the floor. Nikki hits them with a crossbody. Nikki and Rhea go for the double suplex but Flair turns it into double DDT. Flair hits chops on both opponents. Flair throws Nikki out to the floor and then also back body drops Rhea to the floor. Flair takes them out with a moonsault from the top.

Rhea is back in the ring and gets a chance to boot Flair as Nikki grabbed her boot. Rhea puts on the submission on Nikki. She avoids a kick from Flair and hits her with a kick herself. Rhea locks on the submission on Flair but she turns it into figure four. Nikki hits a splash to break the submission. Nikki turns riptide into a DDT. She misses a splash on Flair and Flair puts on figure eight to get the win.

Seth Rollins vs Edge

Seth Rollins enters first for the match. Edge comes out in his old avatar from early 2000s and older theme. He gets rid of goggles mid entrance and his new theme music hits. Edge and Rollins are ready now.

They stare at each other after the bell rings. The crowd gets hyped as they both look around. Edge gets the first punch and smiles at Rollins. They lock up again and Edge hits some punches to force Rollins out to the floor. Rollins is frustrated already. He gets back and eats more punches. Rollins with big blows to the back and goes for the pedigree early. Edge takes him out and throws him into announce table and barricade.

Rollins steps away from the basement slide and slams Edge into the ring post. Rollins then drives Edge’s neck into the steel steps. Back to the ring, Rollins hits a neck breaker and by now you might have got the idea that all the attack is targetted on Edge’s neck.

Edge hits a couple of punches but Rollins drops him again. Rollins was looking for the curb stomp but Edge rolls to the corner. Rollins hits another neck breaker. Edge with more punches but Rollins hits him with the flying knee.

Edge comes with a back body drop. He hits a big knee to midsection before Rollins takes back the control. They go to the top now and Edge hits the spinning neckbreaker. Both men are down. Edge hits a few clothesline and a pop-up DDT for a two-count. Rollins slams his face into the turnbuckle. Edge hits a bulldog for a quick two-count. Edge goes to the top now and Rollins hits superplex and falcon arrow combo.

Rollins misses the stomp on the apron and Edge slams him into the ring post. Edge hits a spear on the apron which took both of them to the floor. Rollins takes out Edge’s knee. Edge still takes him to the ring. Edge goes for the spear but Rollins turns it into a Pedigree. Rollins covers but Edge kicks out of a near fall. Rollins misses a moonsault Edge hits a spear but Rollins kicks out.

Rollins once again starts to target Edge’s neck with big blows. Edge is down to the mat. Rollins goes for the stomp but Edge grabs his leg and puts on the Sharpshooter. Rollins struggles but somehow manages to roll up Edge for a two-count. Edge puts on the crossface now. Rollins somehow breaks his grip. Edge slams his face to the mat a few times and grabs on the crossface again. Rollins submits.

Winner – Edge

Miz and Morrison are in the ring and talking about how it is very dry. They are disappointed that neither of them have the Drip Stick 2000. Xavier Woods comes dressed in a vest and has the very fancy water gun on his back with Pure Life branding. He asks the crowd whether he should shoot them with their own water gun. The crowd says yes and Woods moists Miz and Morrison.

Bobby Lashley(c) vs Goldberg – WWE Championship

Bobby Lashley makes his entrance first with MVP. Goldberg comes out to a big pop. They lock up after the bell rings and come to a stalemate. Lashley pushes away Goldberg and tries to tackle him, but Goldberg no-sells it. Goldberg comes with a flying tackle and a body slam. Goldberg slams Lashley to the mat now.

Lashley fights back in the corner and goes for the suplex. Goldberg stops the suplex but Lashley hits him with the body drop. Goldberg’s knee is out. Lashley goes to the top and Goldberg throws him over. Goldberg looks for the spear but MVP pulls out Lashley. Goldberg hits spear on the floor. Back to the ring, Goldberg once again targetting a spear, but Lashley distracts the referee and MVP hits Goldberg on his knee with the cane.

Lashley starts to dismantle Goldberg now. He goes for the Hurt Lock but Goldberg stops him from locking it in. Lashley drops him again and takes him to the floor. Lashley rams Goldberg into the ring post a few times before taking him back to the ring. Goldberg’s knee has given out and he fails to get on his feet. He gives up and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner – Bobby Lashley

Post-match, Lashley gets a chair and attacks Goldberg’s leg with it. Gage, son of Goldberg, runs in but Bob takes him out with the Hurt Lock. MVP gets on the mic and says there is no way Lashley could have known it was Gage attacking him. Goldberg checks on his son now. Lashley exits with the title.

Roman Reigns(c) vs John Cena – WWE Universal Championship(Roman Leaves WWE if He Loses)

John Cena is out to a big pop. Roman Reigns comes out with Paul Heyman and the Usos. The Usos go back from the stage. Roman heads to the ring. The announcements are done and the bell rings.

Cena starts with a side head lock but Roman hits a shoulder tackle. They size up each other before Cena goes for the cradle for a two-count. Cena mocks Roman with 1-2-3 sign. Roman decks Cena with big right hands. The crowd boos Roman as he continues to hit big punches to Cena. Cena tries to steal pin once more. Roman runs him over with a clothesline. Roman plays with the crowd before whipping Cena to the corner. He hits a suplex next.

Roman is beating up Cena with ease. Another suplex from Roman. The crowd boos continue as Roman throws him out of the ring. Cena hits a couple of punches before Roman whips him into the steel steps. The referee asks Roman to return to the ring otherwise he has to count them out. Roman slams Cena’s face into the steel steps. Roman takes the title and poses with it on the steel steps.

Back to the ring, Cena once again tries a cradle for a two-count. Roman runs him over with a clothesline. Cena goes for the AA but Roman slips out and hits DDT. Roman apologizes to all the movie producers for beating Cena’s a**. Cena hits big punches but Roman drops him again. Roman puts on a headlock now.

Cena tries to get on his feet but Roman puts all his weight into the sleeper hold. Cena fades a bit but manages to get on his feet and slams Roman into the corner. Cena hits a clothesline and both men are down.

They get to their feet. Cena goes for his five moves of doom – flying shoulder tackles, side suplex, five knuckle shuffle is turned into Guillotine. Cena rolls over for a two-count. Roman hits the Superman Punch. Cena recovers and takes down Roman. Cena hits the five knuckle shuffle and Attitude Adjustment. Roman kicks out of a near fall. Cena puts on the STF but Roman reaches the ropes.

Roman hits the drive-by dropkick as they go to the floor. Roman gets frustrated now with the crowd as they cheer Cena again. Roman charges at Cena on the floor but Cena picks him up and hits Attitude Adjustment on the announce table. Cena tries to hurry and takes Roman to the ring. Cena covers but Roman kicks out again.

Cena goes for a leg drop from the top. Roman turns it into a powerbomb. Cena kicks out. Roman loads up the Superman punch. Cena ducks and rolls up for two-count. Cena waits for Roman to get back up. They start trading strikes now. Roman hits two Superman punches back to back and roars “I am WWE.” Roman hits the spear and gets the pin.

Winner – Roman Reigns

After the match, Roman Reigns takes the title from Paul Heyman and celebrates. Suddenly, roman’s face turns angry as Brock Lesnar’s music hits. Lesnar his return for the first time since WrestleMania 36 in 2020. Paul Heyman is down on his knees in surprise. Brock comes to the ringside and stands on top of the steel steps. He stays there for a while and stares at Roman before stepping into the ring.

Lesnar scares Heyman while Roman stands in his corner. Roman leaves without engaging and tells Roman not today. Roman gets to the stage and raises his title. Brock is strolling in the ring as the show goes off the air.
