WWE SmackDown episode of March 15, 2024, brought back The Rock to Memphis, TN. The road to WrestleMania 40 continued in full swing, but did the Rock have any more surprises coming for Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns?
Rey Mysterio was scheduled to return to the blue brand. Bayley and Dakota Kai were set to clash in a grudge match. RESULTS & LIVE UPDATES
After the recap of the segment between The Rock, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins from last week, The Rock came out to the ring. He once again ripped into Cody and insulted him left and right, while also taking some shots at Rollins. The Rock also sang a song insulting Cody, Rollins and “Cody Crybabies.” He had guitarist and a mouth percussionist with him during his performance. To end his promo, The Rock addressed Cody’s mom and told her that he would beat up Cody with his weight belt and would present the bloodied belt to her.
Legado Del Fantasma(Angel & Berto) defeated LWO(Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro) in a tag team title match qualifier.
LA Knight came out to the stage to get interviewed by Kayla Braxton. He took shots on AJ Styles’ unwillingness to come to Memphis for SmackDown before saying AJ might not be able to resist WrestleMania. AJ attacked Knight from behind once again.
United States Champion Logan Paul went to SmackDown GM Nick Aldis backstage and asked him about fines and apology from Randy Orton for attacking him and KSI last week. Aldis proposed why Logan himself wouldn’t go and ask Orton for apology. Logan took a shot at Aldis for being incompetent and not being able to find an opponent for him for WrestleMania.
Kayla Braxton interrupted Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman as they were talking backstage. She asked them about Jey Uso’s challenge for Jimmy Uso at WrestleMania. Jimmy cut her off and accepted Jey’s challenge.
Randy Orton defeated Grayson Waller in a singles match. Logan Paul was on the commentary for this match. Orton was in control after dropping Waller twice on top of the announce table and hanging DDT. Austin Theory pulled Waller out of the ring to save him from RKO. Orton hit hanging DDT on Theory before countering a rolling stunner from Waller with RKO to get the pinfall.
After the match, Theory hit a chop block on Orton before bringing in Logan Paul to attack Orton. Kevin Owens ran out to help out Orton. Logan was cleared from the ring before KO hit a stunner on Theory who then ran right into RKO from Orton. Nick Aldis appeared on the stage and announced that he had found opponents for Logan for WrestleMania. He announced a triple threat match for United States title at WrestleMania – Logan vs Owens vs Orton.
Santos Escobar defeated Dragon Lee in a singles match. Other members of Legado Del Fantasma tried to interfere which led to Lee hitting them with a dive. Escobar caught him with Phantom Driver to get the pinfall.
Legado Del Fantasma beat up Lee after the match. Carlito tried to help Lee but numbers game caught up to him quickly. Rey Mysterio ran out and went after Escobar. Mysterio set him up for 619 but he slipped out. Mysterio then challenged him for a singles match next week.
New Catch Republic(Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne) defeated Pretty Deadly(Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) in tag team qualifier match for tag team match at WreslteMania.
Bayley defeated Dakota Kai in a singles match via disqualification. Damage CTRL attacked Bayley as she got into a dominant position in the match.
Damage CTRL were beating up Bayley after the match. Naomi ran out to help her, but she was also taken down by Damage CTRL.
