WWE RAW March 18, 2024 episode saw three qualifier matches for WrestleMania 40. These qualifier matches were for tag team title 6-pack ladder match. New Day faced Alpha Academy. DIY took on The Creed Brothers. Awesome Truth faced Indus Sher.
Becky Lynch and Nia Jax clashed in a last woman standing match to settle their rivalry once and for all. Gunther and Sami Zayn were set for a contract signing segment for their match for Intercontinenatl Championship. Cody Rhodes, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre were also expected to be on the show. RESULTS & UPDATES
Jey Uso came out to the ring and said he knew his brothers are in the building. He called out Jimmy Uso who came through the crowd along with Solo Sikoa. Jey and Jimmy stare each other for a while before Jey said he missed his brother. Jimmy replied that Jey was the one who left The Bloodline. Jimmy says Jey’s biggest career moment is because of him. Jey replied that the biggest moment of his career will be at WrestleMania XL when he would knock the “Yeet!” out Jimmy. He punched Jimmy which brought in Solo to attacks him. Jimmy and Solo beat up Jey until Cody Rhodes ran out to help him out.
Paul Heyman was backstage with RAW Manager Adam Pearce. He apologized to Pearce for Jimmy and Solo’s attack, but assured him that they were out for the night. Heyman said he was at RAW for some official business which he would handle later in the night.
DIY(Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) defeated The Creed Brothers(Brutus Creed & Julius Creed) in qualifying match for tag team title 6-pack ladder match. This was a very good back and forth match with The Creed Brothers showing off their power and Gargano and Ciampa showing off their enterprise. The finish came as Brutus helped Julius to roll up Ciampa in an inside cradle. Gargano pushed Brutus to the floor before pushing Ciampa over to reverse the cradle on Julius for the pinfall.
Andrade was in Judgment Day’s locker room talking to them. Judgment Day told him they would watch his match next week and would see if he could impress them enough to enter their exclusive club. After Andrade left, Damian Priest talked about JD McDonagh losing to Ricochet last week. Rhea Ripley intervened and said Dominik Mysterio would make it right with Ricochet now.
Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell defeated Katana Chance & Kayden Carter in a tag team match. The finish came after Chance seemed to have injured her leg. Indi backed off after this as the referee checked on her. Candice tagged herself in, knocked off Carter to the floor and slammed Chance’s leg to get the pinfall. Indi was reluctant to celebrate with Candice after the win.
Cody Rhodes came out to the ring. He took shots at The Rock, calling his concert awful and saying that he is not a heel, but an a##hole. Cody then talked about Rock mocking him for crying last week and said The Rock is doing the same behind-the-scenes for weeks calling his face crybabies and what not. Cody then said The Rock tried to intimidate his mother, but his mother is not afraid of him at all. He said that The Rock has LDS – little dick syndrome – as he is playing a side kick to Roman Reigns.
Paul Heyman came out and stood at the apron. He apologized to Cody for bringing in a couple of cops last time he saw Cody, but he brings a message from Roman Reigns. He said that Roman and Cody would go face-to-face on SmackDown this week, but only if Cody would come to SmackDown alone. Cody agreed to the condition.
Nia Jax cut a promo backstage saying that she would beat Becky Lynch once again tonight and would then take her place against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania.
Jey Uso met Cody Rhodes backstage and told him that Roman would not be alone, so, he could accompany him if Cody required. Cody said he knew with whom he was dealing and would take care of it.
Ricochet defeated Dominik Mysterio in a singles match. JD McDonagh was in Dominik’s corner and interfered in the match several times. Ricochet created momentum in the final minute before taking out JD. He hit Dominik with recoil to get the pinfall. JD tried to attack Ricochet after the match, but Ricochet left.
Sami Zayn was backstage where he ran into Chad Gable and gave him props for a great match between them last week. Gable was indifferent and Sami insisted if Gable wanted to say something. Gable told him that he would not beat Gunther at WrestleMania.
Adam Pearce brought out Sami Zayn and Intercontinental Champion Gunther for a contract signing segment for their match at WrestleMania. Gunther took offense on Sami dressing up like someone in the crowd for the contract signing segment for biggest Intercontinental title match ever. Sami went on a rant to claim that everyone has underestimated him throughout his career, and he has proven them wrong.
Awesome Truth(R-Truth & The Miz) defeated Indus Sher(Veer & Sanga) in Tag Team Title Qualifying match. The finish came with The Miz and R-Truth hit Skull Crushing Finale & DDT combo on Veer. The Miz was thrown out by Sanga. Sanga hit a back elbow on R-Truth which landed him on top of Veer. The Miz pulled Sanga as R-Truth got the pinfall on Veer.
Sami Zayn confronted Chad Gable backstage and asked him about the reason he thought he would not beat Gunther. Gable tried to explain how Gunther is a different beast.
We get a promo from CM Punk working out and said we can’t spell Philadelphia without Phil. So, he would be at WrestleMania.
Drew McIntyre was making his entrance. World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins came out and walked past him without even seeing him. Both men accused each other of being spotlight junkies. Drew took a quick jab at CM Punk before Rollins vowed to make The Rock and Roman Reigns his bitches at WrestleMania. He also claimed that he would show Drew that he is not as good as he believes.
Becky Lynch cut a promo backstage in response to Nia Jax.
New Day(Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) defeated Alpha Academy(Otis & Akira Tozawa) in Tag Team Title Qualifying match. Woods hit Tozawa with an elbow drop to get the pinfall after Kofi and Otis went to the floor.
Liv Morgan came to Becky Lynch backstage and told her that Nia was all hers tonight.
Seth Rollins came to Cody Rhodes backstage and asked if he really wanted to go one-on-one against Roman Reigns on Smackdown. Cody answered in affirmative.
Becky Lynch defeated Nia Jax in Last Woman Standing Match. The match went over two commercial breaks with Nia dominating a major part but Becky showing her resiliance. Becky countered Nia’s attempt to hit a Samoan drop off the apron but hitting Nia with a manhandle slam through a table. Nia still beat the count. Becky then hit her with a leg drop through the announce table to get the countdown.
After the match, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley came out to have a staredown with Becky.
