Gauntlet Match for number #1 contender for US Title
R-Truth cuts a promo about how he watched his childhood hero John Cena to put out the WWE United States Championship open challenges on Saturday mornings. He wants to become the first-ever United States-24/7-48/7-7/11-South-American….. Champion and want to take the titles all the way to WrestleMania. Akira Tozawa joins him for the first set of matches.
Gauntlet Match 1- R-Truth vs Akira Tozawa
Truth hits a back elbow after dancing in Tozawa’s face. He ends up hitting the ring post hard when Akira sidesteps him. Tozawa leaps off the apron to send Truth crashing into the barricade. Tozawa ends up pinning him to get the first elimination.
As soon as he is eliminated, Truth takes off as several Superstars pursue him through the crowd. Ricochet is next to join the Gauntlet Match.
Gauntlet Match 2- Akira Tozawa vs Ricochet
They run the ropes and trade counters until Ricochet sends Tozawa out of the ring with a dropkick. Akira pays him back with a spin kick and a suicide dive. He hits a second like a cruise missile. The One and Only catches Tozawa with a dropkick. He puts Tozawa in a unique submission before planting him for a two count.
Tozawa puts him in the octopus stretch but Ricochet powers out and hits a jumping enziguiri. They exchange counters until Tozawa hits a German suplex for a near fall. Ricochet hits a springboard clothesline but Akira recovers and nails a superkick. Ricochet hits The Recoil for the pin to advance.
Gauntlet Match 3- Ricochet vs Matt Hardy
Hardy hits a Side Effect right away for a two count. He beats Ricochet down in the corner before whipping him across the ring. He slams Ricochet’s head into all three turnbuckles and hits a leg drop for two. Hardy backdrops him for another two-count. He hits a powerbomb for another near fall. Ricochet hits a rolling dropkick to give himself some breathing room. He starts building up a head of steam as he hits Hardy with a series of moves. Hardy stops him with another Side Effect for a two count. Hardy avoids a 450 but Ricochet counters the Twist of Fate to get the pin.
Gauntlet Match 4- Ricochet vs Humberto Carrillo
Carrillo helps Ricochet up and gets rolled up right away for a two count. Carrillo pays him back with a dropkick to get his own near fall. He sends Ricochet out of the ring and hits a dive over the top rope. Humberto goes after the same shoulder Tozawa worked on earlier in the Gauntlet. They go back and forth with chops before Carrillo kicks Ricochet’s arm in the middle of a handspring. Ricochet hits a sunset flip for two. Zelina Vega comes out on the stage to watch the match.
Carrillo and Ricochet are still going at it when we return from the break. Humberto scores a two count and starts to look frustrated. Ricochet avoids a moonsault and hits an enziguiri. He takes himself and Carrillo out of the ring with a crossbody. They barely beat the count back into the ring.
Carrillo heads to the top rope and Ricochet joins him to hit a superplex. He hits Humberto with a northern lights suplex and a vertical suplex for a close two count. Ricochet counters a reverse-rana to kick off a furious exchange. Carrillo ends up hitting a moonsault for the pin to advance.
Gauntlet Match 5- Ricochet vs Humberto Carrillo
Andrade attacks Carrillo from behind. He hits a pair of running knees in the corner before throwing Humberto out of the ring. He rips up the mat surrounding the ring. He whips Carrillo into the barricade and hits the Hammerlock DDT on the concrete floor. Rey Mysterio runs down and Andrade backs off for the moment. Andrade leaves through the crowd while medics come to take care of Humberto.
