Gable Steveson vs Brock Lesnar Match in WWE Plan, Steveson To Skip NXT

Brock Lesnar & Gable Steveson

Gable Steveson has recently signed a deal with WWE and there is already a plan for him to face the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

Gable Steveson won an Olympic gold medal in wrestling earlier this year. He is also an NCAA champion just like Brock Lesnar before he signed with WWE. The promotion has really high hopes for Steveson and they even set up a remote training facility for him so that he can learn the ropes while attending the University of Minnesota.

Dave Meltzer on F4Wonline noted that there is already a discussion in WWE about a future match between Brock Lesnar and Gable Steveson. Lesnar used to be a mentor of Steveson, and the two of them trained together as well.

Brock Lesnar vs Gable Steveson will be the passing-the-torch type of match, and it will likely take place at Wrestlemania. The Beast Incarnate also inked a new deal with WWE. It is reportedly for around 1 and a half years and will see him taking part in around 8 matches for WWE.

WWE is also planning not to keep Steveson in NXT for a long time. Dave Meltzer said WWE would look to capitalize on his name sooner rather than later.

“They are big behind him for a lot of reasons, but it doesn’t mean he’s going to be a success, ether. I mean, it’s like he’s going to have the microscope on him and he’s gonna be up there [on the WWE main roster] too soon, for sure. He’s gonna be in matches too soon as far as to be a good worker, because they’re gonna try to capitalize on it although I think he goes full time in May 2022 and, you know at that point they’re gonna be grooming him to the top spots, and they signed him to a deal that pretty much wants him there.”

With Lesnar’s contract new ending in early 2023, WWE might look to match him up Steveson before his contract ends. As Meltzer confirmed that Steveson would become a full time WWE star only after May 2022, it gives him a short window to learn how to be a good “pro-wrestler”.
