WWE NXT Battleground 2024 is a WWE PLE which is scheduled for June 9, 2024, at UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas, NV. This is the seventh event in Battleground series and the second one under NXT banner.

The inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion will be crowned at the event. TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace will challenge for NXT Women’s Championship against Roxanne Perez.

Location Change: Originally in January 2024, Battleground 2024 was announced to take place on May 26 at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, GA. In April 2024, WWE announced that the event was shifted to UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas, NV, and would take place on June 9 instead.

NXT Women’s North American Championship: At Stand & Deliver 2024, NXT manager Ava announced a new secondary championship for NXT’s women’s division called the NXT Women’s North American Championship. On night 2 of NXT Spring Breakin on April 30, Ava announced that the inaugural champion would be crowned at Battleground via a ladder match. She also announced NXT Women’s Combine for the women’s division to take place the following week. The top 12 women from the Combine would go ahead to qualifiers for the ladder match. During the Combine, all the athletes from the division went through different activities and workouts and were given scores for each activity. The top 12 women who went to the qualifiers were – Sol Ruca, Thea Hail, Jaida Parker, Brinley Reece, Michin, Fallon Henley, Lash Legends, Ivy Nile, Izzi Dame, Kelani Jordan, Tatum Paxley and Wren Sinclair. The qualifying matches and their results are as below:

NXT North American Championship: Wes Lee returned from injury on night 2 of Spring Breakin’ 2024 event to confront North American Champion Oba Femi after his successful title defense that night. On May 14 NXT episode, Lee said in his promo that the title motivated him to return from his injury early. Femi interrupted him followed by Josh Briggs and Ivar who both made their claims for a title shot. A triple threat match was announced between Briggs, Ivar and Lee for the following week to find the new #1 contender. However, on the same night, Gallus made their return to attack all three challengers. On May 21 NXT episode, Joe Coffey replaced Ivar in the #1 contender match. The match ended such that both Lee and Coffey were announced as the winners and the match at Battleground was also turned in to a triple threat match.

Baszler vs Vice: Shayna Baszler returned to NXT at night 1 of Spring Breakin’ event as she was revealed to be the cornerwoman for Lola Vice in her NXT Underground match against Natalya. Vice defeated Natalya(w/ Karmen Petrovic) on night 2 of Spring Breakin. On May 7 NXT episode, Baszler defeated Karmen Petrovic in a singles match. Next week, Natalya and Petrovic attacked Shayna and Lola after Lola’s win over Carlee Bright and challenged them for a tag team match. The following week, Natalya and Petrovic won the tag team match. After the match, Lola turned on Shayna and tried to choke her out. Shayna turned the choke around before demanding a match against her. NXT Manager Ava came out to the stage to confirm an NXT Underground match between them at Battleground.

NXT Women’s Championship: Ava announced on May 21 NXT episode that NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez’s opponent for Battleground would be announced on May 28 episode. The opponent was revealed to be none other than TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace.

NXT Championship: As Trick Williams and Meta-Four’s Lash Legends continued to tease a romantic relantionship on NXT, the rest of the Meta-Four tried to target Trick. He was set to feature in Supernova Sessions with Meta-Four on NXT May 14 episode. But, Noam Dar was found to be attacked backstage at the start of the show and the segment was scrapped. Oro Mensah and Jakara Jackson insinuated that Trick was behind this attack on Dar. Legends tried to take Trick’s side in the argument. Mensah was also found attacked backstage on NXT May 28 episode. Later in the episode, Trick teamed up with Jevon Evans to beat Gallus in the main event. Legends came out after the match and asked Trick if he was the one behind the attacks on Dar and Mensah. Ethan Page then attacked Trick from behind and revealed himself to be the mystery attacker. Next day, Page took to social media to announce that he had not signed a contract with NXT. On June 4 NXT episode, Page tried to have leverage in his contract. Trick confronted Page in the main event contract signing segment where it was revealed that Page had demanded a NXT title shot in his contract. Trick told NXT Manager Ava to agree to the condition.
