Welcome to the live results blog for WWE NXT August 8, 2023 episode which featured Rey Mysterio arriving at NXT.

Rey cornered Dragon Lee as challenged Dominik Mysterio for NXT North American Championship. Rhea Ripley was set to be in Dominik’s corner as usual. 3 more singles matches were set for the show. Bron Breakker took on Von Wagner. Axiom clashed with Mustafa Ali in another match. Tyler Bate challenged Noam Dar for his “real” Heritage Cup.

LIVE UPDATES

We see short promos from Dominik Mysterio & Rhea Ripley, and Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee to open the show. Rey asks Lee to show Dominik some humility.

Mustafa Ali vs Axiom

Ali starts strong. Ali hits some chops in the corner. Axiom turns it around to hit his chops. But, Ali shuts him down quickly. They end up at the apron and Axiom sends Ali on the announce table with a hurricanrana. Scrypts is out at the ringside. Axiom hits a dropkick, a Northern Lights suplex and a standing moonsault to get a two-count. Ali blocks a superplex and hits a buckshot lariat after jumping from the top rope. Lucien Price and Bronco Lima are also out on the floor. Axiom trips Ali on the ropes. Ali cuts off his springboard move. Scrypts, Lima and Price go back.

Ali hits a gamengiri. Axiom puts on a sleeper choke. Ali turns it into a jackhammer. Axiom hits a sunset flip next. Ali moves to the floor. Axiom hits him with a moonsault, but hurts his knee during the move. Ali hits a neckbreaker on the floor. Axiom avoids 450-splash and hits a DDT for a near fall. Axiom puts on an armbar but Ali counters with a single leg Crab. Axiom breaks it easily and hits a DDT. They trade punches while Axiom is on the top rope. Ali tries to rip his mask and manages to push Axiom off the top rope. He brings Axiom back in and hits a 450-splash to get a two-count.

Winner – Mustafa Ali

We see several men down on the floor backstage. It is Schism who have beaten them down. Joe Gacy says they will turn everything upside down to find Creed Brothers.

Kelani Jordan vs Blair Davenport

Blair kicks Jordan out of the ring. She puts on an arm wringer. Jordan turns it around and snaps the arm. A hurricanrana from Jordan before Davenport tries to counter with a DDT. Jordan comes with some quick moves but they get stopped. She manages to send Blair to the floor. Blair slams her face into the turnbuckle before hitting a hip toss. Blair puts on a chinlock. Jordan hits running ax handles before a handspring back elbow. Blair misses in the corner but sends Jordan to the apron. She hits a double stomp on the neck and a ripcord knee to get the pinfall.

Winner – Blair Davenport

Von Wagner is interviewed backstage and is asked about Bron Breakker’s comments. Wagner says he has ordered a table for one for Bron Breakker.

Noam Dar(c) vs Tyler Bate – British Rounds Match for “real” NXT Heritage Cup

Round 1 – Bate gets control after hitting a headscissors. Back and forth action before Dar hits a shoulder armbreaker. Bate kicks him into the corner. More quick action before Bate drops Dar. He sends Dar to into the corner, hits a shoulder block. Dar hits some calf kicks. Bate blocks Bop and Bang denied. Some quick action takes us to the end of round one. sling through, ducking and dodging, double lariats, collar and elbow and the round is over!

Round 2 – Bate sends Dar to the floor and hits a crossbody dive. Back in the ring, Bate hits Tiger Driver 97 to get the pinfall. Bate – 1, Dar – 0.

Round 3 – We return from the break to see the last 30 seconds of the round. Dar hits calf kicks to end the round.

Round 4 -Bate puts Dar in an airplane spin before dropping him to the mat. Dar gets him in a knee bar. Bate counters and Dar has to let go. Dar hits a knee strike and puts on a knee bar again. Bate holds on for a while and tries to get to the ropes but has to tap out ultimately. Dar holds onto the knee bar after the fall as he damages Bate’s knee some more. Bate – 1, Dar – 1.

Round 5 – Dar hits sidekicks to the body. Bate hits back with an overhead kick. He hits a German suplex. Dar catches him with a knee bar again. Bate converts it into another German suplex. Bate knocks off Oro Mensah from the apron. He hits a springboard clothesline. Dar rolls him over to counter Tiger Driver 97. Bate counters with a victory roll to get the pinfall.

Winner – Tyler Bate

Tank Ledger and Hank Walker are discussing a name for their team when Schism come in asking for The Creed Brothers and beat them up.


Ilja Dragunov is interviewed backstage and he says he is going to the ring and will wait for Trick Williams.


Carmelo Hayes is in the locker room when Dijak comes in. Hayes tells him to go away. Wes Lee also comes in and starts arguing with Dijak when he tells him that he is no longer in the title scene. Dijak attacks Lee and beats him down after Hayes leaves.


Dragunov and Williams meet in the ring and argue for a while before they come to an agreement to clash at NXT Heatwave.


Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey are interviewed backstage after their opponents Tank Ledger and Hank Walker are declared unfit for the match. They call them soft. Damon Kemp comes in to challenge them, but he does not have a partner.

Bron Breakker vs Von Wagner

Shots from both sides before Breakker hits a shoulder tackle. Wagner hits shoulder tackles himself before a double underhook suplex to send Breakker to the floor. Breakker drives him into the apron. Breakker takes a running start to drop Wagner with a clothesline as he continues to dominate in the ring. Wagner comes back with punches before Breakker ducks and hits a German suplex. Breakker hits a moonsault to get a two-count.

Wagner is shut down once again with a knee. They take out each other with clotheslines. Wagner fires punches before back elbows. He traps Breakker’s arms to hit some headbutts and hits a corner tackle. Breakker comes back with a spear to get the pinfall.

Winner – Von Wagner

After the match, Breakker tries to attack Mr. Stone, but Wagner saves him and puts Breakker through the announce table.


We get a vignette for Eddy Thorpe who is unhappy at losing to Dijak last week and is taking inspiration from Hoka-hey.


Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley are backstage when Lyra Valkyria comes in to argues with Rhea about how she helps out Dominik in his winning matches.


Tony D’Angelo and Stacks are doing a photoshoot backstage when Schism come in asking about the Creed Brothers as they heard that they have information. Tony and Stacks give them random fake info about other members of NXT roster. Schims threaten to attack. Tony brings out his crowbar to hold Schism off. The Dyad say they want the tag titles but Joe Gacy tells them to keep searching for The Creed Brothers.

Drew Gulak & Charlie Dempsey vs Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs

Miles Borne is with Gulak and Dempsey. Jensen starts against Gulak and hits clubbing moves and clotheslines in the corner. Gulak avoids an elbow drop and hits a punch to tag in Dempsey. Gulak asks Borne for gloves. Dempsey puts on a side headlock. Gulak asks Borne for water but it is not at ringside. Gulak rants at him and sends him to away. Jensen hits a hip toss and tags in Briggs. Briggs hits a body slam on Dempsey. Dempsey slips out from a double-team move and tags in Gulak. Gulak is hit with a double body slam.

Gulak hits a kick on Briggs. Briggs gets him in the fireman’s carry and then throws him to the mat. Dempsey tags in and drops Briggs’ hand on the ropes. Gulak also joins in to attack the arm. Dempsey gets him down to the mat with leg sweep. He goes for an armbar. Briggs tries to covert it into a pin attempt. Briggs overpowers Dempsey to hit a powerbomb. Jensen tags in and drops both opponents with clotheslines and punches. He hits a powerslam on Dempsey but Gulak breaks the pin. The match breaks down as all 4 men brawl. Damon Kemp comes in and hits a body slam on Jensen on the floor. Gulak hits a German suplex bridge to get the pinfall.

Winners – Drew Gulak & Charlie Dempsey

Dana Brooke is talking to Kelani Jordan backstage, trying to get through to her to find her killer instinct. Jordan says as tonight was just her third match, she does not even know what her killer instinct looks like. Brooke says she will show it to her next week.

Ivy Nile vs Kiana James

James hits a front kick right after the bell to catch Ivy with a surprise. She slams Nile’s shoulder into the ring post. Nile pushes her to the floor. James slips out from her shoulders and drives her into the ring post. James hits a suplex on the floor. Back to the ring, Nile hits an enzuigiri. James drops her hands on the ropes after slipping to the floor. We cut to a break.

Schism runs a distraction as we return. James takes advantage to get the control back. James puts on shoulder and arm lock. Schism’s lakey’s start chanting for the Creeds. Nile breaks free and hits some quick kicks. She hits running shoulder tackles, a hurricanrana and a single leg dropkick. James comes back with a spinebuster and puts on an armbar. Nile rolls her up for a two-count. Nile hits a power slam for a two-count. Nile locks in her submission but gets distracted by Schism again. James hits inverted Overdrive to get the pinfall.

Winner – Kiana James

James leaves after the match. Schism surround Nile in the ring and interrogate her. Tony and Stacks run out to make the save.


Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo are texting each other and Carrillo talks about their trainer. They come to the conclusion that they are embrassing him and they should do something about it.


Tiffany Stratton is getting interviewed backstage. She talks random fashion stuff and ignores the question about her title challenger. When asked again, she says no one is her challenger.


Trick Williams gets to the parking lot. Wes Lee tells him to send a message to Carmelo Hayes. Gulak and company come out to talk trash with him. Miles Borne is late to the party and gets ridiculed by Gulak for that.

Dominik Mysterio(c) vs Dragon Lee – NXT North American Championship

Rey Mysterio comes out and takes the mic amid huge cheers for him. He introduces the future North American Champion Dragon Lee. Lee makes his entrance. Dominik comes out with Rhea Ripley.

The match starts and Lee pushes Dominik to the corner. Dominik turns it around and hits a chop. Dominik runs away after it. They run the ropes before Lee hits a hurricanrana, a single-leg dropkick and a single-leg stomp before another single-leg dropkick. Dominik rolls to the floor right in front of Rey. Rhea gets in between Rey and Dominik. Lee hits Dominik with a basement dropkick to take us to a break.

Dominik is in control after the break. Lee tries to fight back but Dominik drops his face on the ropes and follows up with a senton to get a two-count. Dominik hits a dropkick next. Dominik hits the three amigos before getting Lee in an inside cradle to get a two-count. He hits some more punches before he attempts to untie Lee’s mask. Lee hypes up and fires back with punches and back elbows. He hits a dragon screw leg before a clothesline to send Dominik to the floor. A suicide dive follows which sends Dominik into the announce table. Lee hits a ripcord knee to the side of the face to get a two-count. Lee slams his face into the turnbuckle before hitting his boot to the face.

Dominik trips Lee on the top rope. Lee also trips him into a tree of woe and hits a double stomp. Dominik blocks a powerbomb and hits a neckbreaker. Lee hits a German suplex but Dominik quickly sets up and hits 619. Lee gets his knee up on the frog splash. Lee hits a powerbomb but Dominik kicks out of the pin. Rhea slips in the title for Dominik. Rey takes it away. The referee is distracted by it. Rhea then slams Lee with her own title. Dominik hits a Michinoku Driver to get the pinfall.

Winner – Dominik Mysterio

Rey gets into the ring to argue with Dominik. Rhea gets in between them once again and pushes Rey back. Lyra Valkyrie attacks Rhea and nails her with punches and a back heel kick to send Rhea to the floor. The show closes with Lee, Rey and Lyra standing tall in the ring.
