Rumor Killer on Cody Rhodes AEW’s Status & Royal Rumble Appearance
Cody Rhodes is currently one of the hottest topics in the wrestling industry after it was revealed that his contract with AEW has expired and currently, he is a free agent.
As per the reports, the current AEW TNT Champion Cody Rhodes is yet to sign a new contract with the promotion. As a result, speculations about his future began, and fans started wondering whether he would stay with AEW or not.
Some fans even started to speculate that Cody Rhodes might be a surprise entrant for the Royal Rumble match this year. However, those speculations can be put to rest as Cody Rhodes is not going to show up in WWE anytime soon.
In the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that AEW Executive Vice President would not appear in WWE and cross the so-called forbidden door. He also added that we can be rest assured that none of the AEW talents would appear at Royal Rumble.
Cody Rhodes hasn’t appeared on any of AEW’s televised shows this year. But, that is more due to COVID-19 protocols than any other issue. It is speculated that the American Nightmare has agreed on a deal with AEW in person, but he is not able to sign paperwork. That process might be completed when he will appear on this week’s Dynamite episode.
Cody is currently holding the TNT championship, whereas Sammy Guevara is the interim TNT champion. AEW has already announced that we will see a title unification in near future between them.
