Triple Threat Match Set for AEW World Title at Revolution 2024
AEW has announced a triple threat match for AEW World Championship at Revolution 2024 PPV.
A #1 contender match between Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland was announced for this week’s Dynamite with the winner facing Samoa Joe at Revolution for the World title.
However, the match ended in a time limit draw after some frantic action. Swerve had hit JML driver in the last few seconds but the referee could only count until 2 when the bell rung for time out. Swerve asked Hangman for a 5-minute extension in the match, but Hangman left the ring and said Swerve had failed to beat him and did not deserve to challenge for AEW World Championship.
Just then, Tony Schiavone stood up on the commentary table to announce that since there is no #1 contender, Tony Khan has booked a triple threat for AEW World title with both Hangman and Swerve challenging Samoa Joe for the title.
Joe reacted to this news backstage in an interview and said come Revolution he would still be the champion. Joe won the title beating MJF at Worlds End PPV in December.
This was the third clash between Hangman and Swerve with Swerve coming out on the top in the first two clashes – a singles match at WrestleDream and Texas Deathmatch at Worlds End.
AEW Revolution is set to take place on March 3, 2024, at Greensboro Collesium in Greensboro, NC. AEW Women’s title match and International title matches are also announced for the show along with Sting’s retirement match.
