The Rock vs Roman Reigns Face-Off at WWE SmackDown
A showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns almost final now after their face-off at WWE SmackDown this week.
Men’s Royal Rumble 2024 winner Cody Rhodes was supposed to make the announcement whether he would face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns or World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40.
Roman came out and mocked Rollins for calling Universal Champion the Hollywood title. Cody Rhodes came out and talked about Universal title being the premier championship and the title which was taken away from his father at Madison Square Garden. Cody then asked whether his story was about taking that title from Roman Reigns, or to take everything from him.
Cody then revealed that he talked about it to someone who knew everything about Roman. At this moment, The Rock’s music hit and he came out. Cody and Rock hugged in the ring before Cody left to the back. The Rock and Roman Reigns then slowly stepped towards each other for a face-off as the show went off the air.
As the show was winding down, a graphic at the bottom announced a WrestleMania XL Kick off Press Event in Las Vegas, NV, on Thursday. It can be expected that the match between Rock and Roman will be announced at that event.
The Rock and Roman Reigns are cousins in real life and a match between them is hotly anticipated for the last few years. The Rock returned to Day 1 RAW edition on January 1 where he teased the match for the first time on WWE TV by referencing to “The Head of the Table”.
WrestleMania 40 is set to take place over two night on April 6 and April 7 in Philadelphia, PA. Bayley vs Iyo Sky match for WWE Women’s Championship was announced for the show earlier tonight.
