SCU Defeat Lucha Bros to Become First AEW Tag Team Champions
Socal Uncensored defeated the Lucha Brothers to become the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions at AEW Dynamite episode of 30 October 2019.
AEW held the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament in the last four weeks. Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian from SoCal Uncensored faced off against the Lucha Brothers(Pentagon Jr and Rey Fenix) in the final at last night’s AEW Dynamite. But the rivalry between them started at the AEW Dynamite episode where the Lucha Bros attacked SCU.
Lucha Bros were once again at hand to attack SCU before their first-round match. This attack resulted in Christopher Daniels being injured and he was replaced by Scorpio Sky. Both teams won their respective matches in the first round and then in semifinals in a comprehensive manner.
In the final(and the main event for Dynamite this week), Pentagon powerbombed Kazarian through an announce table late in the match. Luchadors ran the number game on Scorpio Sky and it looked like their win is certain. They set up for their Package Piledrive-Diving Stomp finisher onto Sky, but Kazarian ran in and pushed Fenix off the top rope.
This distraction proved too much for Pentagon as Scorpio Sky rolled him up and scored the pin to become the first-ever AEW World Tag Team Championship. You can check the celebratory moments after the match in the below tweet.
The inaugural Champions were supposed to be presented the title from Rock N’ Roll Express. But the legendary tag team was attacked by Ortiz and Santana during the show. They were having an interview with Chris Van Vliet at the ramp at the time.
