Lucha Bros & SCU Advance to Semifinals of Tag Tournament
Lucha Bros and SCU have advanced to the semifinals of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament after winning their respective matches at the AEW Dynamite episode of 16 October 2019.
Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian from SCU were booked to face Best Friends in the first round match of the tournament yesterday. However, as Daniels and Kazarian entered, they were attacked by the Lucha Bros. Daniels was hit by a piledriver on the ramp by Luchas, after which he was rendered motionless.
Daniels was then replaced in the match by Scorpio Sky who wrestled in his jeans and tennis shoes. Best Friends would prove to be a tough nut to crack but SCU won the match after a botched powerbomb/dropkick combo on Trent Bareta.
There was a line-up change in another match of the tournament on the same night. There were some reports earlier that Luchasaurus got injured and would be replaced in the match. And those rumors turned out to be true as Marko Stunt replaced him in the match. Lucha Bros were at their best in the match and kept Stunt isolated for long periods in the match. Despite a late rally from Jungle Boy, Luchas were able to get the win.
Lucha Bros will next face Private Party in the semifinal match of the tournament. Private Party shocked everyone by defeating the Young Bucks in the first round. SCU will be facing Dark Order who got the first-round bye.
The lineup for next week’s show is as follows:
- Jon Moxley vs PAC
- SCU vs Dark Order – AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Semifinal
- Lucha Bros vs Private Party – AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Semifinal
