Different Finish Was Planned to Finish Hell in a Cell
Last Sunday’s Hell in a Cell match between Seth Rollins and the Fiend Bray Wyatt was stopped when Seth Rollins used a sledgehammer. At that point, the referee called for a stoppage thinking towards Bray Wyatt’s safety. As it turned out though, that was not the originally planned finish.
Dave Meltzer, on the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, claimed that the original finish to the Hell in a Cell match was for Wyatt to take a gimmicked bump off of the top of the cell. Then it would have been shown that Wyatt is unable to continue and the match would have been stopped. Following the end of the match, The Fiend would have popped up just like The Undertaker uses to do, and would have taken down Rollins with the Mandible Claw.
The fans were really disappointed about the match ending in a non-finish. In the arena, the chants of “Restart the Match”, “Refund” and finally “AEW”. The critics and fans over the social media also did not flinch to show their anger towards such non-finish.
Meltzer earlier reported that the decision to end the match in a non-finish was entirely from Vince McMahon. Today, Dave Meltzer added that while Vince McMahon didn’t want Wyatt to be beaten early, he also wanted Seth Rollins as well as Brock Lesnar, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair as the main champions heading into the WWE Draft.
