Rey Fenix Vacates AAA Titles, Stepping Away From Promotion
AEW Star Rey Fenix announced that he is vacating the AAA Latin American and Cruiserweight Championships.
Fenix announced in his Instagram post that he is vacating AAA Latin American and Cruiserweight Championships because he is too busy with other promotions. He also mentioned that it is not a goodbye to AAA.
Rey Fenix won both belts at the Triplemania XXX Tijuana event on June 18, 2022, by defeating Taurus, Laredo Kid, El Hijo del Vikingo, and Bandido in a fatal 5-way match.
AAA had initially expected Fenix to appear at Friday’s TV taping to defend, and potentially lose, one of his titles to Puma King, but later on news came that the ROH PPV event is taking place on the same day where Fenix will likely be booked. Fenix and his brother, Pentagon Jr. are currently the ROH Tag Team Champions.
Fenix has not performed for AAA since last December, and he has also never defended the AAA Latin American and Cruiserweight Championships since then. Fenix is also the former AAA Mega Champion and Fusion Champion.
