Rey Mysterio & Dominik Make History at WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021
Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio have become the first father-son duo to win WWE Tag Team titles at WrestleMania Backlash 2021 PPV.
The Mysterios were booked to challenge The Dirty Dawgs – Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler – for the SmackDown Tag Team titles at WrestleMania Backlash 2021. They become the #1 contenders by defeating The Alpha Academy last month on SmackDown.
During the kick-off pre-show of WrestleMania Backlash, The Dirty Dawgs attacked Dominik and let him injured. After Dominik was unable to continue, Rey went into the match all by himself. Rey started the match well but ultimately fell to some double team tactics from Roode and Ziggler.
Dominik entered for the match and stood in the corner while still selling a rib injury. He entered the match when Rey had to tag him in for a breather but Dominik was unable to perform to optimum level. He did get a second wind after another hot tag. Rey Mysterio still did the heavy work and dropped Roode to hit 619 and allow Dominik to finish him off with a top rope splash.
This ends a five-month title reign for The Dirty Dawgs, who defeated The Street Profits to win the title back in January. All other titles remain unchanged at WrestleMania Backlash. You can check here for the complete results from WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021.
