Kenny Omega Defeats Fenix for AAA Mega Championship
Kenny Omega defeated Rey Fenix at AAA Heroes Inmortales on Saturday, 19 October 2019 to become the new AAA Mega Champion.
The match between Omega and Fenix was set up by a challenge that Omega issued at Triplemania XXVII in August. Fenix, Pentagon Jr. & Laredo Kid defeated Omega & The Young Bucks at that show. That was the rematch from the AEW Fyter Fest show.
AEW Executive Vice President Kenny Omega won the match after delivering a One-Winged Angel to a terrific semi-main event match. But that did not come before a moment of a scare when Omega delivered a V-Trigger that did some serious damage to the former champion’s nose. This is Omega’s first title win since losing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 13 this January.
Omega’s future title defense is not currently announced. Also, there is no word at this point whether or not that AAA Mega Championship title will appear on AEW television. Although AEW and AAA have a working relationship. Omega is scheduled to face Jon Moxley on 9 November at All Elite Wrestling’s Full Gear pay-per-view.
