NOTES & STORYLINES

The 1st Lonestar Shootout Event took place in 2022 during WrestleCon 2022 weekend in Dallas, TX, at Curtis Culwell Center on April 1. The 2023 edition is the second event in the series and will take at the same venue.

NJPW announced on October 12, 2023, that IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani would defend her title at this event. Stephanie Vagner challenger Iwatani after her win at Fighting Spirit Unleashed. The match was later made official by NJPW.

After Will Ospraey called out Jon Moxley at Power Struggle, David Finlay attacked both of them. NJPW then announced a tag team match with Moxley teaming up with Blackpool Combat Club teammate Wheelet Yuta, and David Finlay teaming up with Bullet Club teammate KENTA. Ospreay vs Moxley vs Finlay triple threat match is also set for Wrestle Kingdom 18.

Shingo Takagi defeated Tama Tonga at Fighting Spirit Unleashed 2023 event. AEW’s Trent Baretta then challenged Takagi for the title, which was later made official by NJPW.
