New Day Split, Seth Rollins Moved to SmackDown in WWE Draft 2020
The night 1 of WWE Draft 2020 saw some major stars moving changing brands and the New Day getting drafted on separate brands.
Big Superstars Moved To SmackDown
The first surprise for the night came in form of Seth Rollins moving to SmackDown. This will be the first time in 5 years that Rollins will be officially part of the blue brand. Earlier in the day, WrestleVotes reported that Rollins is set to be moved to SmackDown with The Fiend moving to RAW.
Before that, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and Universal Champion Roman Reigns were retained on their respective brands as the first few picks. and RAW Women’s Champion Asuka and Rollins were the second picks for RAW and SmackDown brands respectively.
Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio were also later drafted to SmackDown in third round for Night 1 of the draft. The Mysterios have been feuding with Rollins on WWE RAW for the last few months. The third round also saw The Miz and John Morrison moving to RAW along with the confirmation of Mandy Rose for RAW.
The second round of the draft also saw AJ Styles and Naomi moving to RAW while Bianca Beliar is now a member of the SmackDown roster. Styles just recently moved to SmackDown in May. His move to the red brand again might have been due to the presence of Paul Heyman on the SmackDown.
New Day Splits in WWE Draft 2020
However, the most shocking part came in the final round for the night as recently crowned WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, were drafted to WWE RAW. Kingston and Woods returned to SmackDown tonight and won the tag team titles from Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura.
But they were soon picked up by RAW as the first pick of round 4. The shock came when Big E was not included with them and was picked up by SmackDown as their first pick in round 4. Big E defeated Sheamus earlier in the night in a Falls Count Anywhere match and is looking for a singles run on the brand.
A supplement draft is set to be conducted on Talking Smack Saturday morning for the remaining superstars from night 1 of the draft. WWE RAW edition of 12 October will have the second round of the draft 2020.
