MJF will defend his AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe to headline AEW Worlds End 2023 PPV card.

After Joe became MJF’s tag team partner for the ROH Tag Team Title match against The Gunns (Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn) at AEW Full Gear, MJF promised Joe a title shot in return. However, on November 22 AEW Dynamite episode, when Joe tried to claim his owed favor, MJF reneged on his word and disrespectfully told Joe to blow him.

Following Adam Cole’s reminder for MJF to honor his promise, MJF expressed his willingness to defend the championship on AEW Dynamite in the same episode. Surprisingly, Joe declined the opportunity, stating that he desired to face MJF at his best, preferring not to beat the injured version that stood before him.

Following the exchange, it was confirmed that MJF would defend his title at the AEW Worlds End PPV event. Joe had previously competed for AEW World title but fell short as MJF successfully retained the championship.

Samoa Joe has also recently given up his ROH Television Championship because he’s aiming for the AEW World Title. MJF recent title defense was at AEW Full Gear 2023 event, where he defeated Jay White.

AEW Worlds End 2023 PPV will serve as the final PPV event for AEW in 2023. The event is set for December 30, 2023 to take place at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York.
