Miz Cashed In MITB on Drew McIntyre After Lashley’s Attack

The Miz has once again won the WWE Championship after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre at WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 PPV.

The Miz WWE Champion 2021

Drew McIntyre defended the title inside the Elimination Chamber in the main event of the show. Post-match, as the chamber was lifted, Lashley attacked Drew McIntyre with a spear. He did not stop there and continued to beat down the WWE champion at the ringside. Lashley then put on the Hurt lock and drove McIntyre into the mat.

Just at this opportune moment, Miz came out with a referee and the MITB briefcase to cash it in. Miz’s first pin attempt after a DDT was kicked out but McIntyre could not get his shoulders up after the Skull Crushing Finale.

This is the second time that Miz had cashed in MITB to win the WWE championship. He has earlier won the first title on 22 November 2010 episode of RAW after cashing in on Randy Orton.

Miz won the MITB briefcase this time around from Otis after beating him at Hell in a Cell 2020 PPV. Miz unsuccessfully cashed it in at TLC PPV in the match TLC match between Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles. However, that cash in was deemed canceled as John Morrison announced the cash-in and the Miz.

McIntyre Survives Elimination Chamber

The WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match was just like any other Chamber affair. Some of the important moments in the match include Kofi Kingston’s suprise roll-up to eliminate Randy Orton just seconds after coming into the match.

This was followed by Orton hitting RKO on Kofi and Jeff Hardy. AJ Styles tried to get into the match early to take advantage of the situation and asked Omus to break his pod. Omus obliged and Styles entered the match, but could not get the pin on either Kofi or Hardy.

Omus was then booted from the ringside by WWE Official Adam Pearce. The match continued and saw Sheamus eliminating Kofi Kingston with a brogue kick, Drew McIntyre hit Hardy with Claymore to eliminate him, and AJ caught Sheamus off-gaurd with the Phenomenal Forearm to eliminate Sheamus.

Drew McIntyre was then able to catch another Phenomenal Forearm attempt with the Claymore to pin Styles and win the match to retain his title.

Lashley Attacks Drew McIntyre

Bobby Lashley lost the WWE United States Championship to Matt Riddle earlier in the night. The triple threat match saw Riddle pinning John Morrison to win the title. Lashley was clearly seething in anger after losing the title. But it seems Hurt Business was already planning their next move as MVP was seen discussing something with the Miz backstage.

It soon became clear that Hurt Business is targetting WWE Championship as Lashley attacked Drew McIntyre after the Elimination chamber match. The attack was clearly aimed at decapacitating Drew McIntyre as Lashley used the ringside barricades, ring posts and announce table to hurt the WWE Champion.

As if that was not enough, Lashley even used his Hurt Lock as well as a tilt-a-whirl Urinagi to drive McIntyre into the mat.

It was clear that some deal was struck between Hurt Business and the Miz involving WWE Championship. It will be interesting to see when Bobby Lashley will turn on the Miz and win the title. It is now expected that Drew McIntyre vs Bobby Lashley is the match planned for WrestleMania 37.
