Eddie Kingston will face Katsuyori Shibata in a one-on-one match for the NJPW Strong Openweight title and ROH World title match at AEW WrestleDream PPV event.

Eddie Kingston announced the match on the September 23 episode of AEW Saturday Collision, expressing his desire to pay tribute to Antonio Inoki through this matchup.

AEW then confirmed that Kingston will defend his both his titles at AEW WrestleDream PPV event. If Shibata wins the match he will be seen holding the 3 titles after the match as he already holds ROH Pure Championship.

Eddie Kingston recently won ROH World Championship at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam where he defeated Claudio Castagnoli in a Title vs Title match. He won NJPW Strong Openweight title from KENTA at NJPW Strong Independence Day event in July.

At the AEW All Out 2023 PPV event, Kingston and Shibata teamed up as partners but were defeated by Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta in a tag team match.

Katsuyori Shibata’s most recent ROH Pure title defense took place on the September 16 episode of ROH on HonorClub, where he successfully defended his championship by defeating Nick Wayne. He has held the title for the past 6 months after winning it at Supercard of Honor 2023.

AEW WrestleDream 2023 PPV event is scheduled for October 1, 2023, at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA. A Six-man tag team match is also set for the event where Ospreay, Takeshita, and Guevara will face Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Ibushi.
