Cody Rhodes Slapped The Rock, Tag Match Set for WWE WrestleMania 40
The biggest tag team match is official for night 1 of WWE WrestleMania 40 event where The Rock and Roman Reigns will face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
The Rock issued the challenge for this match last week in response to Cody’s challenge for a singles match. The Rock also added the stipulation for this tag team match. If Cody and Rollins win this match, The Bloodline will be banned from the ringside during Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes match on night 2. However, if The Bloodline wins this tag team match, the match between Cody vs Roman match will be The Bloodline rules match.
The timeline to accept this challenge was given until this week’s SmackDown episode. Earlier this week on RAW, Cody and Rollins discussed this match and came to an agreement. The duo appeared to confront The Rock and Roman Reigns at Smackdown earlier tonight.
The segment saw The Rock once again throwing insults towards Cody and Rollins before Rollins told him to shut up and accepted his challenge for tag team match at WrestleMania 40. Roman then took at jab at Cody for letting Rollins speak for him. The Rock also told Cody that as a board member of TKO, he would make sure that Cody would not get another shot at Universal Championship ever if he lost at WrestleMania.
The Rock then went on to say Cody is the youngest child of Dusty Rhodes after an elder brother and elder sisters, and infered that Cody was a mistake. This prompted Cody to slap The Rock at which point the SmackDown broadcast went off the air.
Later, WWE made the match official for night 1 of WrestleMania 40. With the tag line of biggest tag team match ever and the involvement of The Rock and Roman Reigns, it is expected that this would be the main event of night 1 of WrestleMania this year on April 6.
