CM Punk Makes Hometown WWE Return at Survivor Series 2023

After all the speculations and denials, CM Punk has made his return to WWE after all at Survivor Series 2023 event.

Ever since his contract with AEW was terminated back in September, fans started speculating that Punk might make his once unthinkable WWE return when WWE comes to his hometown of Chicago, IL, with Survivor Series. However, no insiders were able to confirm the same in concrete manner.

As Survivor Series 2023 was going off the air after Men’s War Games match, suddenly Cult of Personality hit the speakers and the cameras turned to the stage. CM Punk made his entrance to the stage and just stood there soaking in the moment in his hometown.

CM Punk was last seen in WWE ring at Royal Rumble 2014 event. He no-showed RAW episode the following night and was terminated later in June that year.

Punk made his return to pro wrestling after 7 years when he joined AEW in July 2021. He went on to become a two-time AEW World Champion, but was stripped off the title and suspended after a backstage brawl in September 2022. He spent 9 months away from AEW TV due to the incident before returning on AEW Collision debut episode.

Punk was suspended for the second time at All In 2023 event in London, due to a backstage brawl with Jack Perry. His contract with AEW was terminated one week later with AEW President Tony Khan saying that he felt threatened for his life at All In due to Punk’s actions.
