Chris Jericho in shock after his First AEW Loss

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho suffered his first loss in AEW when he was pinned by Scorpio Sky during the AEW World Tag Team Championship match at AEW Dynamite this week.

Chris Jericho retained the AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear 2019 PPV. But he was pissed off that he and Sammy Guevara were not in the Top 5 of the AEW Tag Team Ranking. It was despite them being undefeated in tag team matches. So, he challenged the AEW World Tag Team Champions SoCal Uncensored for the title match.

The match went on at the main event of the AEW Dynamite episode of 13 November. During the final minutes of the bout, Sky and Jericho went back and forth with some quick moves. Jericho seemed to have got the match in the bank when he nailed Sky with a codebreaker. But Scorpio Sky rolled Jericho in an inside cradle as Jericho went to pin him and got the shock win to retain the title.

Before this match, Jericho had won every singles and tag team match under AEW’s banner. He defeated Kenny Omega at AEW Double or Nothing in his first AEW match. Jericho later defeated Adam Page to become the AEW World Tag Team Champion at AEW All Out.

Later, he worked a few tag team matches with Sammy Guevara as his partner as well as the six men tag team match at AEW Dynamite premiere episode. In between, he successfully defended the AEW World title against Darby Allin and then against Cody Rhodes at AEW Full Gear 2019.

Jericho definitely did not take his first AEW loss very well. He was seen throwing some tantrums and also some chairs at the ringside after the match. It remains to be seen whether Scorpio Sky will get the AEW World Championship title shot after this win.
