Bryan Danielson will face Zack Sabre Jr. in a one-on-one match at AEW WrestleDream 2023 event.
During the September 9 episode of AEW Collision, Bryan Danielson spoke to the audience, stating that he made a commitment to his daughter to end his wrestling career gradually, and he’s determined not to go back on that promise. Initially, the two men were set to compete against each other at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022, but the match had to be canceled due to an injury sustained by Danielson. Sabre instead faces Claudio Castagnoli in that match, who made his AEW debut with that match.
Zack Sabre Jr. is currently the NJPW World TV champion. Zack’s recent match was at NPjW Road to Destruction 2023 event, where he defended his title against Satoshi Kojima.
Bryan Danielson’s contract with AEW is set to conclude in September 2024, and he has previously expressed that this would mark his final time as a full-time wrestler. He returned from a fractured arm at AEW All Out 2023 PPV event, where he defeated Ricky Starks in a Strap match.
AEW WrestleDream 2023 PPV event is scheduled for October 1, 2023, at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA. This is the first match announced for the event.
