UFC 298: Ikram Aliskerov Out, Kopylov vs Hernandez Rebooked

Ikram Aliskerov will not fight Anthony Hernandez at UFC 298 event and Roman Kopylov is stepping in as the replacement.

During the UFC 297 broadcast, it was revealed that Aliskerov had pulled out of the bout. The reason for this withdrawal was not revealed.

Later, MMA Fighting reported that Roman Kopylov is set to step in for Aliskerov. Hernandez and Kopylov were previously set to face off at Noche UFC event in September, but Hernandez had to withdraw from the bout due to a ligament tear.

Roman Kopylov is currently on a four-fight winning streak. In his most recent bout at Noche UFC event, he secured a victory over Josh Fremd with a knockout. Before facing Fremd, Kopylov also achieved a knockout victory against Claudio Ribeiro at UFC 291 event. With his recent successes, Kopylov’s UFC record currently stands at 4 wins and 2 losses.

Anthony Hernandez is presently on a four-fight winning streak, propelling him to the 15th spot in UFC middleweight rankings. His overall record in UFC stands at an impressive 11 victories with just 2 losses.

His latest triumph came at UFC Vegas 73 event, where he secured a third-round knockout against Edmen Shahbazyan. Before this, he claimed victories over Marc-Andre Barriault, Josh Fremd, and Rodolfo Vieira.

UFC 298 is set to take place on February 17, 2024, at Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. A bantamweight bout is also set for the event, where Merab Dvalishvili will face Henry Cejudo.
