Shahbazyan vs Hernandez & Kowalkiewicz vs Demopoulos Set for May 20 UFC Event

Two new fights have been scheduled for the UFC Fight Night event on May 20, 2023. 

The first one is the middleweight bout between Edmen Shahbazyan and Anthony Hernandez. Brett Okamoto of ESPN was the first one to report this news which was also reported by several other sources.

Edmen Shahbazyan is coming off a second-round TKO win against Dalcha Lungiambula at UFC 282. With this win, he broke his three-fight losing streak. On the other hand, Anthony Hernandez is maintaining a three-fight winning streak. He is coming off a third-round submission win against Marc-Andre Barriault. 

The second one is a women’s strawweight bout between Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Vanessa Demopoulous. Marcel Dorff of EuroSports confirmed the date of this bout on Twitter.

Karolina snapped her five-fight losing streak last year when she won against Felice Herrig last year in June. After that, she also defeated Silvana Gomez Juarez at UFC 281. On the other hand, Vanessa Demopoulous is on a three-fight winning streak. She is coming off a decision victory against Maria Oliveira.
