Ilia Topuria vs Josh Emmett Reportedly Postponed to June 24
Ilia Topuria vs Josh Emmett will now headline the June 24 UFC event in Jacksonville.
According to the latest reports, the featherweight bout between Ilia Topuria and Josh Emmett which was initially supposed to be the main event of the June 17 UFC Fight Night event, will now take place a week after on June 24.
Kol Menero of EuroSports is the first one to break this news by sharing a tweet, which is confirmed by several other sources as well.
Ilia Topuria is still undefeated in MMA and currently sits at #9 in the UFC featherweight rankings. He won all five of his UFC bouts and is coming off a second-round submission win against Bryce Mitchell. Before that, he defeated Jai Herbert and Ryan Hall via KO.
On the other hand, Josh Emmett’s five-fight winning streak was recently snapped by Yair Rodriguez at UFC 284. Emmett competed for the interim featherweight title but lost the match via second-round submission. His last win came against Calvin Kattar in June 2022.
It will be Ilia Topuria’s first main event. Hence, it will be interesting whether he has what it takes to last five rounds against an opponent like Josh Emmett.
