WWE has officially confirmed that the New Day member Xavier Woods has undergone surgery to repair an Achilles tear.

Xavier Woods suffered the Achilles injury during a tag team match against The Revival at WWE’s Live event in Sydney, Australia on 21 October. Woods reportedly fell down when he ran to the rope. He was attended by the medics at the ringside while Big E finished the match in losing cause. He was later stretchered out of the arena.

WWE did not officially announce the injury at the time and the details around the injury were uncertain. PWInsider reported yesterday that Woods have had the surgery yesterday only. He is expected to be out of action for 6 to 12 months. WWE’s commentary team also mentioned that Woods had undergone surgery before the New Day’s match against Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.

Kofi Kingston and Big E from the New Day will be facing WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Revival next week on SmackDown with the title on the line. The New Day is getting the title shot regardless of their defeat on last night’s show.

Post-match, Kofi Kingston addressed his slump in this month as he was dethroned as the WWE Champion and then Woods got injured. Both Kofi and Big E maintained that they will bounce back from this slump with their “Power of Positivity.” Before their match at SmackDown, Kofi and Big E will also be part of the Tag Team Turmoil match at WWE Crown Jewel 2019.
