WWE Super SmackDown is SmackDown special show as WWE is returning to Madison Square Garden for the first time since December 2019. The event will air on September 10, 2021, and WWE is pulling out the big guns to make the event extra special. Brock Lesnar will return to SmackDown almost after two years. We will also get a PPV worth match in Edge vs Seth Rollins. Some stars from RAW roster are also expected to appear.

Brock Lesnar Appears: Brock Lesnar appeared to give a big closure to SummerSlam by confronting WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. However, he has not appeared at SmackDown since. That will change next week with WWE pulling out the big guns for the event at Maddison Square Garden. Paul Heyman is already tensed on whether his relationship with Roman would suffer due to Lesnar returning. Will he get some respite when Lesnar finally appears again?

Edge vs Seth Rollins: Edge thought he has left Seth Rollins behind when he defeated him at SummerSlam. However, Rollins seems to have taken a page or two from Edge’s playbook and has continued to bring him up. Who will emerge victorious when they face-off in a rematch?

Contract Signing: Becky Lynch wanted to face Bianca Belair on her own time, but now she is told that the title defense comes at Extreme Rules PPV. Bianca and Becky meet at SmackDown to sign the contract for the match.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos will defend the tag team championship titles against the Street Profits. The rivalry between the two teams started two weeks when the Profits came out to the aid of Balor when Usos and Roman were attacking him.

  • Rey Mysterio, Dominik, Big E, Rick Boogs & Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Apollo Crews, Commander Azeez, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode in a tag team match via pinfall.
  • Seth Rollins defeated Edge in a singles match via pinfall.
  • The Street Profits defeated The Usos via DQ. The Usos retain WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.

The show starts with a special video package remembering the tragic events of 9/11/2001.

Roman Reigns Speaks

WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns comes out with The Usos and Paul Heyman. Some boos as Roman enters the ring and takes the mic. Romans discuss with Heyman that WWE owns New York when it comes to entertainment and he runs WWE. So, in turn, Roman runs New York and MSG. Roman asks the crowd to acknowledge him. Mixed but loud reaction from the crowd.

Brock Lesnar’s music hits and he comes out to the ring. Lesnar goes and stands in front of Roman face to face. The Usos come and stand in between. Heyman asks Roman why he is coming after the Universal Championship when they can go after any title they want. In return, Lesnar asks Heyman why he did not tell Roman that he was gonna be at Summerslam. Heyman is shocked and Roman snatches the title from him and walks away.

Heyman goes on and does his signature introduction for Lesnar saying he has been his advocate for 20 years. Lesnar gets hyped reminiscing their time before. Lesnar then asks Heyman to accept his challenge for Universal title before Roman fires him. Heyman is scared, but Lesnar gives him 5 seconds to reply. Lesnar picks him up for F5.

Roman returns to the ring and hits Lesnar with Superman Punch. The Usos try to hit him with superkicks but he runs them over with clotheslines. Lesnar hits German suplexes on both Usos. Roman exits the ring and The Usos follow him.

Rey Mysterio, Dominik, Big E, Rick Boogs & Shinsuke Nakamura vs Apollo Crews, Commander Azeez, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode

Sami Zayn takes the mic before the match starts and introduces Trae Young from NBA’s Atlanta Hawks. The crowd boos Young as he is from a rival team of New York.

Ziggler and Nakamura start. Nakamura drops Ziggler and then hits Pele kick on Roode. He gets to the floor and hits Gable with enziguiri. Otis has tagged in but then and drops him from the apron. Otis dominates Nakamura as we cut to the break.

Rey Mysterios takes down Sami as we return. Rey hits a sunset flip and Crews breaks the pin. Things start to get chaotic as everyone start to come into the ring and hit their moves. Rey was looking to hit Roode with 619 but Sami cuts him off. Trae Young rakes Rey against the ropes. The referee catches him and boots him to the back. Rey drops Sami to the ropes. Rey and Dominik hit Sami with double 619 and Big E hits Big Ending to get the pin.

Winners – Rey Mysterios, Dominik, Big E, Rick Boogs & Shinsuke Nakamura

Big E gets an interview and is asked about what is next for him. Big E warns everyone that if he needs what they have, he will show up anytime anywhere. He warns Universal Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. He also announces that he will show up at RAW on Monday.

A brief video package with George W. Bush’s quotes in the aftermath of 9/11. WWE announces in the arena about three organizations that help out veterans.

Extreme Rules Contract Signing

Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are in the ring with Bianca Belair for contract signing. Pearce asks Bianca to sign the contract and make the match official. Bianca cuts a promo saying Becky was not one to duck a fight but that has changed now. She adds that Becky keeps bringing up 26 seconds at Summerslam because she knows that she will win if they toe to toe. Bianca signs the contract.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch comes out as her music hits. Becky sits down on the chair while Bianca takes the other one. Becky says Bianca was star-struck – she could either be that or beat the man. She tells Deville and Pearce that she might have given the title match to Bianca tonight, but they are pushing the issue. Becky asks what if she does not want to sign the contract. Bianca starts a chant from the crowd for Becky to sign it.

Becky gets angry at the crowd and tells them that she kept listening to “We Want Becky” chants while she was at home. She came back and defeated the champ and is leaving her little girl at home for us. But the crowd is ungrateful to her. Becky signs the contract in irritation and throws it at Bianca before leaving.

Paul Heyman is backstage and Kayla Braxton is just behind him. Kayla asks him whether Roman will accept the challenge from Brock Lesnar. Heyman gets irritated by Kayla but tells her that Roman will be out to see The Usos vs The Street Profits later tonight. Heyman turns around to find Big E behind him, showing off his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Edge vs Seth Rollins

Edge rolls over Rollins before Rollins stomps on his feet. They lock up again and Edge takes Rollins down in a headlock. Rollins hits a dropkick to his knees. Edge takes his time to recover before they lock up again. Edge decks him with big right hands. Rollins goes to drop Edge on the turnbuckle but Edge avoids him.

Edge drops Rollins into the corner with a drop toe hold before sending him into the ring post. Rollins takes him down near the ropes and then catches him with a knee as he charges. Rollins takes Edge out with a knee strike to send him to the floor and hits him with a suicide dive on the ramp.

Seth sends Edge into the barricade and then hits a springboard knee by bringing him back to the ring. Rollins puts on a shoulder stretch now. Rollins works on Edge’s knee now and slows down the pace. Edge comes back with big punches but Rollins catches him with Glam-Slam. Rollins hits another Glam-Slam.

Edge blocks DDT, Rollins does the same, Edge blocks Pedigree. Edge manages to hit Pedigree on Rollins. Rollins kicks out. Edge with a suicide dive on Rollins on the floor as we cut to the break.

Edge hits a full Nelson slam as we return. Edge goes to the top. Rollins also climbs but Edge drops him with big punches. Edge puts on a modified sharpshooter. Rollins manages to send him into the turnbuckle to break the move. Rollins goes for the crossface but Edge rolls him up and puts on the crossface.

Rollins reaches the ropes as Edge slams his face to the mat a few times. Edge hits Edge-cution DDT. Rollins counters the spear with a spinning neckbreaker. Edge comes back with a sit-out powerbomb to counter the stomp. Rollins hits a buckle bomb but Edge catches him with a spear finally. Rollins kicks out of a near fall.

Edge tries to put on the crossface again. Rollins tries to stop it and this gives him a chance to hit a low blow on Edge. Rollins goes on a superkick spree. Superkick after superkick from Rollins. Edge refuses to get down. Rollins hits a superkick for the 6th or 7th time to finally bring down Edge. Rollins hits him with the stomp. Rollins breathes in for a moment and then covers Edge to get the pin.

Winner – Seth Rollins

After the break, we see Edge getting loaded up in the ambulance. Rey Mysterio and other babyfaces are there by his side. Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce load up Edge in the ambulance. They turn around to Seth Rollins who was standing and watching. Rollins is interviewed and asked how does he feel. Rollins says he does not know how he feel. He even does not know who he is.

Roman Reigns calls the Usos and tell them about how he claimed to be running the show. He tells them to beat The Street Profits in the main event. The Usos say they will make him and the family proud. The Usos leave for the match. Roman turns to Paul Heyman and asks him why he did not tell him about Lesnar being at SummerSlam. Heyman stutters as we cut to a break.

The Usos(c) vs The Street Profits – WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship

The Usos start the match strong and drops Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins to the floor to take them out with a suicide dive.

The Street Profits hits a double team move as we return. Jimmy decks Dawkins and brings in Jey fore more attack. Dawkins catches Jey with a dropkick. Jey hits with a back elbow from the ropes. Quick tags from the Usos before Dawkins clotheslines Jey out of the ring. He does the same to Jimmy and Ford hits them with a plancha. Roman Reigns comes down to the ramp. We cut to a break.

More action as we return. The Street Profits get on a hot streak to bring down both Usos. Ford and Dawkins bring down Jimmy with a double-team move. Ford is dropped from the apron before Jey comes in to superkick Dawkins.

The Usos keep Dawkins under control for a while. Dawkins decks Jimmy and tags in Ford. The Street Profits threaten to run away with the match, but Roman Reigns interfere and causes a DQ.

Winner – The Street Profits(by DQ, Usos Retain Titles)

After the match, Roman beats up Ford while the Usos gang up on Angelo Dawkins on the floor. Roman takes the mic and says he will take on Brock Lesnar as soon as he is done with Finn Balor.

The music hits and the ramp gets covered in smoke as The Demon makes his return to WWE. The Demon Finn Balor makes his way to the ring and stands in front of Roman Reigns. The commentators say that it might be The Demon Balor vs Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules.

Post-show update: It will indeed be Demon vs Roman at Extreme Rules.
