WWE Summerslam 2024 Card Updates: 2 Fights Official, 5 More in Plan
This year’s WWE Summerslam event could feature as many as 8 fights as per reports.
Two big title fights have been announced for a while now. King of the Ring 2024 Gunther is set to challenge for World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest. Similarly over on SmackDown, Queen of the Ring 2024 winner Nia Jax will challenge WWE Women’s Champion Bayley. Both these matches were made official this week.
Two more bouts were more or less confirmed on SmackDown this week. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes told “The Tribal Chief” Solo Sikoa that he would defend his title against him at Summerslam. LA Knight signed a contract for United States title fight against Logan Paul, but Paul is yet to sign the contract. Paul is a native of Ohio state where Summerslam 2024 is being held.
In other fights teased, Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk bout is anticipated to take place at Summerslam for a while now. Drew McIntyre is set to meet RAW General Manager Adam Pearce on RAW this Monday to discuss the same. Rhea Ripley returned to RAW earlier this week and is expected to challenge for Women’s World Championship, a title she had to relinquish due to injury, against Liv Morgan.
A rematch between Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker over Intercontinental Championship is also expected to be on the SummerSlam card this year. Breakker lost to Sami at Money in the Bank, but has attacked Sami on RAW this week. The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentioned that WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match could also take place at Summerslam or on the Friday preceding Summerslam.
WWE Summerslam 2024 is set to take place on August 3 at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. The expected match card is as below:
