WWE SmackDown Results May 10, 2024, Updates, Highlights
WWE SmackDown episode of May 10, 2024, saw King and Queen of the Ring tournament continuing with 3 matches in each tournament. Randy Orton faced AJ Styles, Baron Corbin took on Carmelo Hayes and Tama Tonga took on Angelo Dawkins in the King of the Ring.
Naomi, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill faced Nia Jax, Candice LeRae and Piper Niven respectively in Queen of the Ring tournament. We were also supposed to hear from Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Check below for the complete results and updates from WWE SmackDown May 10, 2024.
RESULTS & UPDATES
The show kicked off with a recap from Backlash event. We were shown the complete brackets for both King & Queen tournaments before cutting to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Aldis brought out WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes came out to the ring with a great reception from the fans in the arena. Aldis congratulated him for his first title defense at Backlash before going straight to talk about his next defense which would come at the next PLE. Aldis revealed Logan Paul as the next challenger. Logan came out to the ring while Aldis left and met him on the ramp. Logan brought up how he was the longest reigning champion in WWE at this time and how he was a superstar. He talked about both of them debuting at WrestleMania 38 together and how he had been talk of the town at Royal Rumble 2023 and WrestleMania 40 where Cody had pivotal moments himself. Cody praised Logan but added that he could become a Grand Slam champion if he would win Unites States title. Cody then said Logan would find out at King & Queen of the Ring where he stood.
AJ Styles was interviewed backstage about his match against Randy Orton. Styles first wanted to talk about how he had Cody on the ropes at Backlash where the crowd kept distracting him with their chants. He vowed to earn another title shot and beat Cody in next attempt.
Nia Jax defeated Noami in the first round match of Queen of the Ring 2024 tournament. Nia dominated the match. Naomi had a rally late in the match and was able to take Nia down off the second rope with a hurricanrana, but she kicked out of the pinfall. Nia countered with a powerbomb and a leg drop before hitting A-Nia-Lator to get the pinfall.
Backstage, Baron Corbin was interviewed where he talked about finding himself in NXT. Carmelo Hayes interrupted him and advised to pull out of the tournament just like Bobby Lashley had done.
We got a video package for DIY who were drafted to SmackDown in the Draft.
Carmelo Hayes defeated Baron Corbin in the first round match of King of the Ring 2024 tournament. Corbin avoided Carmelo’s finisher and hit him with a big clothesline. He was looking for End of Days but Carmelo avoided it and caught Corbin with an inside cradle to get the pinfall.
WWE Women’s Champion Bayley was interviewed backstage about Queen of the Ring tournament. She said she was excited to watch Jade Cargill. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven interrupted her with Chelsea saying that Piper would knock Jade out of the tournament tonight.
Randy Orton was interviewed backstage about his King of the Ring match. He talked about it briefly before moving onto talk about The Bloodline taking out Kevin Owens last week. He said Tama Tonga might be on the other side of the bracket but he has a feeling that their paths would cross.
Jade Cargill defeated Piper Niven in the first round match of Queen of the Ring 2024 tournament. The match started with several stalemates as both women looked for big tackles. Piper took control with a takedown. Jade made a comeback with a blue thunderbomb before hitting corner splashes and dropped Chelsea Green when she tried to run a distraction. Cargill finished Piper with the Jaded to get the pinfall.
Bianca Belair made her entrance as Jade was going back. They both posed at the stage.
Bianca Belair defeated Candice LeRae in the first round match of Queen of the Ring 2024 tournament. LeRae targetted Bianca’s leg injury throughout the match. Bianca rallied in the final stretch before hitting KOD to get the pinfall.
We got a video package for Shinsuke Nakamura.
Backstage, Solo Sikoa confronted Paul Heyman about pulling Roman Reigns from the draft due to which The Bloodline was drafted in the third round. Solo asked Heyman if he was trying to get food off their table. He told Heyman that he had talked to Roman after he lost the title at WrestleMania. He informed that Roman had put him in charge of the Bloodline until he returned and Heyman would be his wiseman.
We got a video package for Andrade.
Tama Tonga defeated Angelo Dawkins in the first round match of King of the Ring 2024 tournament. Tonga started with big shots before Dawkins quickly took over control. He knocked Solo off the apron when he tried to intimidate him. Montez Ford also hit Solo and Tanga Loa with a dive. Solo then sent Ford into the ring post. This distracted Dawkins and Tonga was able to capitalize to get the pinfall.
We got a video package for Blair Davenport.
