WWE Attempted To Get Mike Tyson For SummerSlam Opening
According to the latest reports, WWE attempted to get boxing legend Mike Tyson to take part in the upcoming PPV event, SummerSlam.
Mike Tyson is a member of the 2012 celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, and the company wanted him to be a part of the opening package of the biggest party of the summer.
PWInsider reported that WWE wanted Mike Tyson to lend his voice for the opening video package of SummerSlam that will be built around the main event match between WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, and John Cena.
However, for some reason, WWE’s attempt to bring Tyson in was unsuccessful. It is also yet to be revealed who will become the voiceover artist of this video package in place of Mike Tyson.
Mike Tyson appeared for WWE several times in the past. He helped in the building of WrestleMania 14 which featured Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels fighting for the WWE title. He also appeared in a match in which he faced DX along with Chris Jericho. However, in the match, he turned on Jericho and reunited with the D-Generation X.
Mike Tyson’s most recent pro-wrestling appearances came for AEW. The last time he appeared was on the April 14 episode of AEW Dynamite where the boxing legend served as the special enforcer for a match between Dax Harwood Chrish Jericho.
