Report: WWE Altered Roman Reigns Match at Royal Rumble 2024
WWE changed Roman Reigns’ plans for Royal Rumble 2024 PLE.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE changed the initial plan of the Randy Orton vs Roman Reigns match at Royal Rumble. According to the report, the change occurred because the company aimed to avoid defeating Orton shortly after his comeback at Survivor Series 2023 PLE, which happened less than two months prior.
During SmackDown January 5 episode, the headline bout featured a triple-threat match involving Randy Orton, LA Knight, and AJ Styles. The winner of the match was set to face Reigns at Royal Rumble for Undisputed Universal Championship.
At the final moment of the match, Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Jimmy Uso intervened. The Tribal Chief and his brothers launched an assault on all three participants in the match, resulting in a no-contest scenario with no winner declared.
Following the match, Nick Aldis, present at ringside, informed Paul Heyman that Reigns will defend his title at Royal Rumble 2024 PLE in a fatal 4-way match.
Roman remains favourite to come out of Royal Rumble as the Universal Champion with an impending clash with the Rock in horizon. With WWE not wanting to get the pinfall, who will it be to get pinned or submitted during the match? LA Knight or AJ Styles?
