Report: Amazon Prime Potential New Home for WWE RAW
Amazon Prime could potentially become the leading candidate as the new broadcasting platform for WWE RAW.
As WWE’s NBCUniversal deal for Monday Night RAW ends in October 2024, speculation swirls around its next broadcasting partner. The show currently airs on NBCU’s USA Network every Monday.
However, with the network spending big money to take over the rights to air Smackdown on Friday nights, it is expected that RAW will land on a different network starting in Fall 2024.
Sports Business Journalism reporter John Ourand anticipates that Amazon is the current favorite to acquire the rights for WWE’s primary program. Ourand also predicted that Amazon would maintain RAW on Monday nights, broadcasting the show live like it has been the case for 30 years now.
Amazon Prime actively aims to engage young male viewers, seeking extra live content for Prime Video alongside Thursday Night Football. Transitioning from cable TV to streaming signifies a significant change in wrestling TV rights.
WWE has reportedly been in discussion with several networks as the next home for RAW. Warner Bros Discovery is also reportedly eyeing WWE RAW’s next contract. Interest heightened after CM Punk’s Survivor Series debut, potentially boosting their interest.
