Seth Rollins is a WWE legend in the making but he has already had some of impressive matches in his 6 years career in WWE till now. Before his face-off with Brock Lesnar at Wrestle Mania 35, let us look at the biggest wins of his career so far.
#5 vs Triple H, Unsanctioned Street Fight, Wrestle Mania 33, 2017
The story starts with a returning Triple H interfering in a match at Summer Slam 2016 to get both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins eliminated. Although everyone thought about that episode for a while, Triple H later cost Rollins his Royal Rumble spot to Sami Zayn, reinjured Rollin’s knee by attacking him alongside Samoa Joe. Still, under rehabilitation, Rollins came back in March to attack Triple H with his crutches. During the match, Triple H targeted Rollins’ injured knee by applying Figure Four Leglock, hitting it with a chair, and even stomping on the knee by putting it in between the chair. They used the surrounding area of the ring, announce table, and other weapons, all legal under the Street Fight stipulation. Stephaine McMahon also interfered a couple of times when Rollins had the upper hand in order to distract him. Triple H attempted a Pedigree from the top rope on Rollins, but Rollins countered and performed a Phoenix Splash on Triple H for a near-fall. After trading counters, Rollins performed a superkick on Triple H, who collided with McMahon, causing her to fall through a table. Rollins then performed a Pedigree on Triple H, his own finisher to get an emphatic victory over one of the legendary figures of WWE.
#4 vs John Cena, WWE World Heavyweight Championship and United States Championship – ‘Winner Takes All’ Match, Summer Slam, 2015
On the 20th July 2015 episode of Raw, John Cena(United States Champion at the time) challenged Seth Rollins for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but Rollins refused. On the July 27 episode of Raw, Cena again challenged Rollins, but instead, the Authority forced him to defend the United States Championship against Rollins. Cena defeated Rollins but sustained a broken nose during the match. On the August 3 episode of Raw, Rollins challenged Cena to a “Winner Takes All” match at SummerSlam, for both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship which Cena later accepted.
The match started with a slow pace and both stars built some momentum as they hit some nice moves showing their wrestling prowess. Cena and Rollins both executed Attitude Adjustments on each other for near falls. Rollins’ Pedigree attempt was countered by Cena into the Figure Four Leglock. Cena executed a second Attitude Adjustment, but in the process, Rollins inadvertently kicked the referee. Jon Stewart, the host of SummerSlam, ran to the ring with a chair, assumingly helping Cena but struck Cena with the chair. Rollins took advantage and executed a Pedigree on Cena on the chair and pinned Cena to win the match. Although it was not a clean win, Rollins defeating Cena and holding both United States and WWE World championships helped to increase Rollins’ popularity.
Later Rollins would lose the United States title to Cena but was able to defeat Sting to retain the WWE Championship at Nights of Champions.
#3 vs Roman Reigns, WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Money in the Bank, 2016
On 4 November 2015, Seth Rollins was forced to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to injury. Rollins returned at Extreme Rules on 22 May 2016, attacking champion Roman Reigns after his successful title defense against AJ Styles. Rollins was granted a title match against Reigns at Money in the Bank the next night on Raw by Shane McMahon.
The Shield Brothers pushed each other to the limits in this match countering several of each other’s moves. At one point, Reigns went through the barricade when Rollins avoided a Spear from him. After the match, Dean Ambrose hit Rollins with the Money in the Bank briefcase and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to take away the championship from him within 5 minutes.
#2 vs Brock Lesnar(c) and Roman Reigns, WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Wrestle Mania 31, 2015
Rollins won the Money in the Bank briefcase in the 2014 edition which he went on to cash in to get the title shot for the next year. Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble in 2015 and challenged Brock Lesnar at Wrestle Mania but he was largely getting a negative reaction from the live crowd in the build-up to Wrestle Mania.
Brock Lesnar started the match on a strong note and hit 3 F-5s on Reigns and multiple german suplexes. But Reigns got a turning point in the match when he hit Lesnar’s to the ring post resulting in Lesnar bleeding profusely. Reigns then hit Lesnar with 3 Superman punches and 2 Spears but Lesnar was able to kick out at two counts. Rollins tried to get the advantage over the two superstars who already battered each other by that time to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase making the singles match a triple threat match. This was also the first time in history a Money In The Bank contract was cashed in during a match. Rollins sent Reigns out of the ring and hit Lesnar with a Curb Stomp. Rollins went for a second Curb Stomp to Lesnar but Lesnar countered it and was about to hit F-5 on Rollins when Reigns hit a Spear on Lesnar. As Lesnar rolled out of the ring, Rollins capitalized by hitting a Curb Stomp on Reigns and pinning him to win the world title for the first time.
#1 Gauntlet Match, RAW, 19 February 2018
Before Kofi Kingston lasted for 60 minutes in the Gauntlet match, Rollins also lasted for 65 minutes last year. For the first time, an Elimination Chamber match was set between 7 wrestlers to determine the no. 1 contender to face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Wrestle Mania 34. And in order to determine the last entrant for the EC match, a Gauntlet match was organized on RAW.
Rollins started the match with Roman Reigns and the two battled out in one of the best matches of RAW for that year. Reigns did connect a Superman punch on Rollins but Rollins was able to roll him up to the pin and eliminate him. Next up in the Gauntlet match was John Cena. In another grueling match which lasted for more than 20 minutes but a tired Rollins was still able to overcome Cena’s challenge and was able to kick out after an Attitude Adjustment and STF. Rollins also hit Attitude Adjustment on Cena though and was able to hit the Curb Stomp to eliminate Cena. Although Rollins was later eliminated by Elias, but his 65 minutes marathon run(which is the record for the longest time in the Gauntlet match in WWE) and elimination two of the biggest names in Roman Reigns and John Cena, makes his career-best performance.
