Riho Beats Britt Baker to Retain Women’s Title at AEW Dynamite
Riho has defeated Britt Baker to retain the AEW Women’s Championship in the match AEW Dynamite episode of 16 October 2019.
Riho became the first AEW Women’s Champion at the debut episode of AEW Dynamite after defeating Nyla Rose in the first-ever title match. Riho and Baker were tag team partners last week when they defeated Bea Priestly and Emi Sakura. After their last week’s match, AEW announced that Riho and Baker would face-off for the title at this week’s Dynamite episode.
They went toe to toe against each other and the match saw lots of counters throughout. Both women showed their athleticism and traded control back and forth. The end came when Baker countered a running knee and hit a swinging neck breaker. She tried to use lockjaw next but Riho rolled her up and caught her by surprise to get the pin.
Both women shared a moment of respect in the ring after the match but Baker was visibly frustrated. The Women’s title match for AEW Full Gear 2019 is still to be announced. It is likely that these two women would face each other in a rematch at the Full Gear also.
