NXT General Manager William Regal announced the first-ever all women’s WarGames match will be taking place at NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019.
NXT has been holding WarGames TakeOver event annually from 2017 onward featuring WarGames matches. WarGames matches involve two or three teams of 3 to 5 wrestlers locked inside two sections of a steel cage that encompassed two rings. NXT War Games 2019 will be taking place on 23 November 2019 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL.
Women’s Roster in NXT is at odds against each other with many Wrestlers going after Shayna Baszler’s NXT Championship, namely Rhea Ripley, Bianca Beliar, Io Shirai, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox, and Mia Yim. It has resulted in many brawls between the NXT Women’s locker room.
A similar thing happened at last night’s NXT episode after WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka and Kairi Sane retained their titles successfully against Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai. The Horsewomen, Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir attacked Nox and Kai. Rhea Ripley came out to make the save and was in turn attacked by Io Shirao. This brought Candice LeRae out and the big brawl continued.
NXT General Manager William Regal has had enough of this. He appeared at the elevated podium and confirmed the first-ever Women’s WarGames match. Later in the show, Cathy Kelly announced that Shayna Baszler and Rhea Ripley will be the captains of the two teams. Both team line-up is as below:
- Team Shayna Baszler– Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, Io Shirai, Bianca Belair
- Team Rhea Ripley– Candice LeRae, Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai, Mia Yim
