The Undisputed Era has been in pursuit to take all the titles in NXT since the start of the year. Adam Cole led his stable by example as he defeated Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover: XXV to become the NXT Champion. Bobby Fish and Kyle O’ Reilly then won the NXT Tag Team Championship last week on NXT episode from the Street Profits.

Roderick Strong was also part of the Triple Threat at the NXT Takeover: Toronto 2019 event where Velveteen Dream retained the North American title by pinning Pete Dunne. Since then, both Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong have maintained that they would want to continue their pursuit for the title.

This week at NXT, Velveteen Dream defeated Kona Reeves in a non-title match. In a post-match segment, Roderick Strong appeared on the big screen to get the attention of Velveteen Dream. Later, he set the purple couch, belonging to Velveteen Dream, on fire as Dream could only look from the ring.(Video below). The match between them was later confirmed by WWE via Social media accounts.

WWE has also announced a Triple Threat with Io Shirai vs Mia Yim vs Bianca Belair for the NXT USA Network premiere. The winner will become the new no #1 contender to NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler for a future title shot.

NXT will move from WWE Network streaming to air live on USA Network every Wednesday for 2 hours from 18 September episode. WWE’s so-called developmental brand will go head to head against AEW’s weekly TV show which debuts on TNT on 2 October and will air in the same 8-10 PM EST slot.
